Thanks, I'll keep it in mind
Pistons are an eaiser problem to sort than barrels.
What size pistons did you throw in your engine, standard size? |

Are you still on standard liners?
If so, I'll wait and see what's wrong with yours |

Yes I had the standard liners rebored for the pistons.
You could always come down on the train for the weekend and "see what's wrong" for yourself ... might need to help taking the engine out though
I'm thinking something in the valve train as the tick is at half revs. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Unfortunatly, I have a morbid fear of train travel
A small blow from one of the headers would sound like a ticking and would also be half engine speed |

What else is required to do this? Balancing? |

Just a re-bore +2.5mm
The JE pistons are matched better than the OE pistons and much lighter |

Yes but you'd probably have the head cleaned up, flowed and the valves lapped.
I put in some Kent Cams and had the parts Camcoated to control the heat in the combustion chambers.
There's a size higher up which needs new liners and the engine casings to be machined for them.
You can also fit the GSX-R750W gear ratios to give you a 6 speed box.
The biggest problem with the SB6 is the airbox though, it's to small for the engine to breath fully which is why you could consider 38mm carbs. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
