Here's an interesting fact-
Out of 684 Bimotas registered (on the site), 222 are located in Italy, but, only 3 are located in Rimini
I know, i know... i've got way too much time on my hands. But, it's been raining here for a week. |
Brian compiled the above in July 2012.....as its cold windy, and wet and bikes in their slumber...I decided to do an update from the latest Swiss Register
Out of previously listed 684 Bimotas worldwide....938 are now listed...so well done everyone that sent their info through to Manuel Nunez. ( a 37% increase in owners listing their bikes)...Although, Bimota, between the years 1974 and 2007 made 9,119 over the 33 years...an average of just 276 per year (this excludes race bikes, YB1-3, SB1, GB1 etc etc...and excludes DB5 and Tesi 3D onwards - Numbers not known)
Heres a rundown of "listed" Bimotas owned up for by their owners country by country for the top ten countries (a little skewed due to Japan having many bikes but few listed...)
In Reverse Order of the 938 Bimotas listed:-
10th place - Sweden and New Zealand with 10 bikes each
9th place - France - 19 bikes
8th Place - Australia - 21 bikes...well done guys...
7th Place - Netherlands - 26 Bikes
6th Place - Spain - 36 Bikes
5th Place - USA - 40 Bikes.....I suppose Bob Steinbugler has at least this many but hasn't entered details...
4th Place - UK - 88 Bikes....although I know of at least 30 Bimotas not listed...
3rd Place - Switzerland....113 bikes...surprised me...
2nd Place - Italy - 246 bikes...only 24 bikes more than 4 and a half years ago...shows you the shift in ownership and markets
1st Place - ????Well of course Germany...with 263 bikes listed...
In total there are 33 different countries listed as having Bimota owners....

There are 24 individual Owners who are greedy enough to own 5 or more Bimotas....you guys know who you are.....and 6 of which have 10 or more Bimotas....so all try telling your Mrs/Partners that your own addiction isn't really so bad.....One Italian tops the known list with 21 Bimotas listed, the next highest ownership is 12.....followed by the infamous Giorgio Sarti of the "Bimota Bible - 25 years of excellence" author...has 11 |

Yeh...it was a pretty slow day that day Brian....although I did extract all the info onto an Excel spreadsheet....so could use autosort for countries, owners, numbers etc etc.....if you'd like a copy of the spreadsheet I could email you one....
I've got all my bikes prepped and cleaned ready for the Bike show....so reluctant to dirt them up prior to that by using them....But unfortunately I'm suffering from PMS at the moment........Parked Up Motorbike Sickness....so I've now broken that rule with the DB2, DB4 and DB5R as the odd nice dry sunny day appears...albeit its only 6 degrees Celsius.
Also semi busy looking to help a lad restoring his DB1 and another restoring his Tesi 1D....both live less than 20 miles away...convenient..... |

A yb7 may have just hit our shores but a YB4 R is just leaving and heading back to Italy, I didn't even see it come up for sale !! |
