Hi!
I'm during the process of restoring my bike to original shape.
I have a problem with rear fairing mount. It was lost. I can't find any pics or manuals how this fairing is mounted to rear frame. Can you take me some photos undertail and under the drivers sear? Thanks!

C.

If its a single seater tricolor...there is no support behind the riders seat...later...due to vibrations causing cracks a rear extra subframe was added...have you not got the exploded spare parts manual> this shows how things go together

Do you have Part Number 12 on here? the rear subframe made of box section aluminium?

Sorry 2bims/Brian , but as a newbie I will have to correct you on that.
The early tricolor indeed just had the alloy frame and bobbins for the seat unit to sit on but due to the tail unit vibration and cracking a metal hoop was made that replaced the spacer bobbins and added an extra fixing .
They are pretty rare though , buy I'm sure your DB4 2bims has one.
I'll look for a picture.

I've never seen the extra metal hoop. Was it only on the later 2 seater models?

Yes there was a steel loop added for support for the single seater. The two seater has a different subframe. You can see the single seater subframe on raresportbikes.com. Half way down.

I have 2 x DB4's and neither of them has this extra loop.

They a pretty rare I think. Only seen it on one bike before. Think its the late tricolors only, or was it just that after Bimota went bump in 2000 they found a box of bits that seemed to fit so they put them on ??? Who knows !! Laughing

Nah.....mine just has the same as Brians "new one".....I still recall when my rear brake master locked up and "slowed" my progress on the motorway...rear disc was glowing red by now...managed to scramble off the motorway onto a side road and then it got hotter due to no wind resistance and I was still 5 ft from the kerb.....a car pulled over and some 3 fellows tried to assist me in getting the bike to the pavement....and they were reaching under the "bump" on the back to lift the back wheel off the ground to push the bike..."Nnnooooooooo…" I screamed....as theres nothing under there...just pure fibreglass of the one piece seat/tank unit....Luckily they stopped and then lifted the back wheel and pushed....after which I waited some time for it to cool down and limp home....I've seen the "extension piece"....but not sure if it was only for the twin seat....the single seaters could sort of do with one...as the back end does jiggle about a bit with vibes etc when on the go...but...I havent evidenced any cracks or breaks as yet as a result...If it aint "too broke"...dont fix it
