Yep, and prospective buyer would want to have a very good look over it with the bodywork off and it would want to be running and registered, ready to go

Yes it's a curious thing. I have to say Brian I think that the R does look better but the 6 got the better paint job.

So we know he didn't get 15 for the other 6 they recently sold. There is a 6 in WA asking 24 and you won't get any better based on pictures and has lots of extras. We know that the mob in the Valley had their 6 for sale for years at 22 and didn't sell. This one is 22 ONO and may not have the original clocks according to Facefart posts. What is the fair value I ask? Somewhere between 15-20? Bit of a challenge when Brads Vintage Cycle Sales has that great looking Laverda Mirage for sale for a similar price........

And why do you want to strip it beforehand? As long as the bespoke Bimota stuff was there it's only a Suzuki in fancy clothes? Can you see anything missing? Such as the clocks?

Yes getting an RWC would be a requirement but probably not really an endorsement of actual condition if you know what I mean.......

Really? I don’t think so.... it does have the best part of the suzuki, but’s that’s it, the rest is a little more special.

Paul has probably purchased more bikes from centrepoint than all of us put together...
Some of the things I've come across in mine that just come from being sat, unloved in Japan's corrosive environment for *years* are just things you don't quite expect - the coolant barbs in between the carbs are not in great shape (and NLA), the spherical bearings on the steering damper are not happy... and I haven't even started on the rear end linkage!

There is a SB6 for sale here in NZ for 12000nzd(11000aud-ish). 12k seems to be the magic number here, it's what i payed for my SB7 and DB4.

take the damper off - you won't need it and you can't use it above 3 clicks anyway.

And you know what, most of them have had the same issues you mention. And some fairly ordinary handiwork on them too. e.g. The Bimota with the odd mixture of jets in the carbie (I wont blame him for the fuel pump), The GSXR750 with the broken accelerator pump nozzle from a ham fisted attempt at getting the carbies in the bike, the RG250WW with the clogged carbies and odd mirrors (same as RG500 and that hurt.....). Why do we keep going back people!!!!!!!!!! As for the 750 F1 I bought from another guys that was also ex Japan - just a stuck starter motor he claimed, should be alright with a bit of work - yeah a full engine rebuild cause the nickasil lining had come off the front barrel from corrosion. But as the bike came with an 851 (which was what I was really after anyway) and many $'000's worth of spares I'm not complaining. The F1 is undergoing a restoration as we speak.

So what do you think I should offer for the R then? Assuming it's still there when the means meets the desire......

I’ve edited some of the text out of your post..... Read the top line in your reply to Gammaboy and base your offer on that Rolling Eyes

$16000 and dropping. Going into a recession not sure many people will be keen to invest.........misread the market? I reckon selling old exotic bikes must be a tough gig.

What recession?
Either way, physical commodities actually fair better in bad economic times, as it is a good hedge against the market.

Really?
IS the market that much stronger then in the USA?
Seems most bikes listed for five figures take A LONG time to ever find a buyer.

That's 12000 New Zealand dollars which i just did a quick currency convert and it came to approximately 7600 USD.

Bimota Spirit have a SB7 listed for 19000USD(29000NZD) and a DB4 listed for 12900USD(20000NZD). Those prices make my bikes look like a bargain. Will they sell at that price? Probably not.
