Just wanted to get an idea of the different switch lengths for the Paioli float switches, I may have found a more reliable replacement, the big trick will be working out which lengths suit which bikes... Currently looking like it will be a bolt in fitment with minor opening out of the hole in the tank...
I guess the length from the mounting face to the highest point of the float will be a reasonable indicator. Also any comments regarding if it comes on too early or too late would be great.
Thanks!

Thanks to Brian, looks like the SB6 one is 55mm from mounting face to to of float.
I believe pretty much everything else is longer?

I measured the DB4 fuel switch length one time when I had it out too, I’ll have to see if I can find where I wrote it down Shocked

OK, so one of the options looks like it'll switch on at about 55mm fuel level from the mounting face, so at a guess, about 10-15mm higher from the mounting face... there are two longer options (I'll have some measurements for the shorter of the two today or tomorrow hopefully), and a shorter one that looks like it'll switch at about 40mm... hole in the tank will need to be opened out to a 23mmx13mm oval, and that's it. Swap out the connector, make sure it's a 5w bulb in the dash, and away we go.

So, can anyone tell me lengths for YBs/DBs etc so I can match them up with what easily available sensors will do the job?

So looks like the fuel level switch that was going to be close to a bolt in is a no go, one of the bolt spacing references I'd found was wrong, but a bigger problem was that the amount the main hole would have to be opened up would mean grinding all the way to the brass inserts.
Bummer.

Hmm that’s a shame mate, it was looking so promising too.

The Plan B (which was the original plan before I found the Yamaha sensors) will definitely work though.
