Just a quick update

Thanks to everyone that has passed on their thoughts and best wishes, especially to 2bims for his attention and selfless hospital visits. I am now home battered and bruised, 2bims and myself have checked out the DB10 and figured out the bike will probably be written off. That will give me the opportunity to restore the bike to its former glory. When I start the project I will with 2bims help start a picture documentary whereas I will probably be calling on help from all you guys in locating parts/spares

Once again I extend my thanks to all the well wishes I have received 🙏

Hi Glen.

Sorry to hear about the accident , good to hear you are out of hospital and hope you have a speedy recovery.

You didn't miss much at the TT , the DB10 probably would have been better for the weather conditions than the BB3 was thats for sure !! Laughing

Anyway, on the bike write off front , I have a bit of experience there with my accident the other year.
My insurance at the time was Peter James , not sure who you with , be prepared for a fight. The assessor had no idea, they are free lance so don't want to make to much of an effort as time is money, and they are on a flat fee. They will have no idea on the cost of low production specials/part availability or were to find the part prices etc and in my experience were not interested to learn.
I had to provide all the research for Peter James for my claim. Cost/availability/ bikes for sale etc etc.
Not sure what you have it insured for or whether agreed value but as a pointer mine was market value ,( agreed value is rubbish !!) , value of what I paid for it , and due to the increase in value of classic/limited edition investment bikes I managed to argue a value 15-20% more than it was insured for due to rising market .

Write off buy back value from memory is a blanket 30% of market value paid , has nothing to do with damage/repair costs.

Whilst you are laid up you need to go through the BCP catalog and find as many of the items as you can, whether that is DB10 or an equivalent model and get some costs/availability.
Also try to find a DB10 for sale for a comparable value or if not a RRP list price and then say a DB5/6/7/8/9 RRP list price and the equivalent availability/NOS price of the DB5/6/7/8/9 now, hopefully show the increase / price retention . ie the DB5R at Motosigniture or the DB6/7 at the bike specialist.

If I can help in any other way give me a call .

Cheers Vort......And guess what Insurer glen is with????….They are just gonna love insuring Bimotas after they see his DB10...…After having dealt with your DB5R.....A whole flood of folk going back to FJ from PJ I can see in the not too distant future......Did you end up getting the liability sorted on yours and "over priced re-insurance" premium sorted/refunded?....Is it worthwhile for Glen to get an ambulance chaser lawyer on board? As in was the "legal cover" element of FJ any good on a scale of 1-10?
