|

Hi fellas
Can anyone tell me if DB1 16" front and rear tyres are avaiable and if so who makes em and where can you buy em?
I'm considering the purchase of a DB1 but the tyre issue scares me as I can't seem to find any 130/60 16 or 130/80 16 for the front
160/60 16 and 160/80 16 for the rear also seem elusive.
Is there a solution besides another set of 17" wheels and would they even fit?
Thanks |

Just done a google on the sizes you give and there's a reasonable choice, in modern rubber over here so I presume you'll be able to get them over there too.
After a quick check, rubber availability wouldent stop me buying that bike |

We must be on different internets. I cant find any manufacturer that lists either 130/60 16 or 130/80 16 as a front tyre or 160/60 16 or 160/80 16 as a rear.
Can you post some links. I've also asked the people who distributed the DB1 when it was new here in Australia and they advised that the tyres are no longer avaiable. |

Thanks heaps fellas. Oily couldn't get any joy from your link, load ratting had me stuffed. Even tried standing on me head lol. But your link, Robin gave me some hope.
Seems a combination of 130/70 16 front and 160/60 16 rear is avaiable from Avon and Pirelli. They're matched so I assume they'll work together. Front guard clearance may prove an issue but not insurmountable I'd reckon
Still not sure they're avaiable locally but I spose I could get a pair on a slow boat if I had to.
Thanks again I may be buying one yet. |

Hi
Seem to be a few 130/80 tyres but think it probably needs the same tyre as the Ducati Paso, which are pretty much unobtainable. Know someone who having sold their Paso in the UK stuck their spare front tyre on Ebay and it landed up selling to someone in NZ, who not only paid substantially more for it than the price of a pair of tyres for my Dieci for it, but then paid over half as much again in postage.
All the best

As well as my DB4ie I have a Paso 750, original size tyres are unavailable unless you use old stock but having crashed the Paso in the rain on a shiny old tyre I wouldn't recommend it!
Early Honda Fireblade front tyres are 130/70-16 so that's what I have on my Paso now and I much prefer it to the rather vague feel the original 130/60-16 (Pirelli or Michelin) gave. On the Paso it requires the front mudguard raising about 10mm, the tyre just touches the front cylinder rocker cover under braking.
Rears are more difficult but the Ducati Paso site has a number of suggestions some of which involve swing arm mods which may or may not be needed on a DB1. Or you could do as some Paso owners have and swap to 17" rims.

As Shay just noted - Shinko make tires in just the right profile for the DB1. If you can overlook the very un-Italian brand name, they're a really good tire (I've got them on my DB1)
The other option are these - they even list the DB1 as intended fitment on their website
https://www.goldentyreaustralia.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=db1&cat=
Gone are the days of having to put up with rock hard Michelins way past their use by date. Thankfully, due to the accumulating appreciation of bikes like DB1's and F1 specials, I guess there's enough demand for manufacturers like these to make them.
Good luck! _________________ DB1 . Ducati F1 . Ducati TT2 . Ducati 450D . Guzzi LM1 . Morini Kanguro |
