The more observing forum member, may see the Bimota swing arm....also supplied as part of the deal.

The even more observing forum member, may notice that there are NO swing arm mounts or holes for the pivot.

Not knowing the exact swing arm pivot position, I decided to make end plates in alloy, to take the spindle and locate on the 4 main fixing points.

Not only does this make the fixing method blind.....I can 'move' the swing arm pivot point in any direction ...by making new side plates.

This way any minor upset or geometry change can take place very easily.

The final method....2 countersunk bolts into the actual spindle and 4 M16 cap heads as locators and fixings for the alloy side plates.

Just in shot, to the left, is the OEM SuperCity 125 donor tail piece, complete with light and number plate

Bearing in mind it is a 17 year old weapon of choice...the number plate has the slogan...Eat Sh#t Mother f##ker!.....I was almost embarrassed to bolt it on.

Next up the tank

thanks

Gavin

The Tank......a SuoperCity tank is 12 litres of essence and pretty small.

Placed between my legs it will look redickulous (intended error)

....therefore stretch it front to back by 100mm...widen it across the girth 75mm and make it taller by 75mm
and make the filler cap area much larger with a proper HGV sized filler cap.

Parker Fabrications from Bournemouth where most folk go to retire....make 10 or 15 chopper tanks a week in alloy using the English wheel....craftsmen.

They were persuaded to take on the challenge and their skills can easily be seen.

The top section now measures a more proportional 150mm by 150mm

In the last shot you can see the tank location method very clearly, in the image above.

The image below shows a mock up of tank and seat positioned but not fixed ....but you get the idea.

Lovely...as ever....quality "British Craftsmen/women ship".....Are you going to tap and add outlets to link two sides with link pipe or have twin petrol taps one to each carb??

Oo...get me....sort of getting involved....Will most of the tank be unseen then...the top piece only with the "cut" line as you will have cagiva super city radiator shrouds one on each side?

It is always difficult trying to explain your thoughts when the vision is mostly on your head.

The fuel will transfer to a smaller hold tank next to the intended fuel pump....then onto the slurping carbs.

The Cagiva bodywork will be stretched and located to the fixing bosses welded into the tank..
....the bodywork was another Tamburini design...so no intentions to change that.

BTW once the new pipes are made by an ex HRC man....the JollyMoto units, unused, will be offered to forum members
....these are brand new and came straight from the nice Italian man and used just for performance characteristic and route indicators

Actually, there will be quit a bit for sale

Regards

Gavin

Hello......back from holiday.

The engine is athe latest version from Piero but with some addional modifications requested by me to allow premix only.

He had the engine modified and placed in the same delivery vehicle as 2Bims point hat tribute bike.

Along with some suspension and exhaust components.
He also confirmed ....well nodded knowingly....on the missing CB SuperUrbanCross500V story

There is a locker owned by the Tamburini family which has nearly a 100 artist drawings penned by Mr Tamburini
during his Bimota/Ducati/Cagiva/MV days...In 1999 I acquired one of these sketches for a 4 valve Ducati 888 engine in a Cagiva Elefant frame.
....dated a full 10 years before the launch of the KTM 950 Adventure

Back to the V Due engine.......it has the up rated forged con rods...new piston ring design
..new crank lubrication system and all oil pipes removed where not necessary

Jolly Moto pipes were supplied but not used....these were used just as a guide for Tony Green ex HRC man to fabricate the new pipes to suit.

Tony fabricates pipes mainly for the classic scene but did the pipes for the HRC team UK including pipes for Haslams funny frontend ELF

More updates once back from Germany ....last foreign trip on the bike before Brexit

Gentlefolk of Bimota ownership,

Sitting in Spain getting ready for tonight’s flight back to Brexit Cental.

Pipes now finished and the bike will be ready for collection next week...
Where it will go back to the frame fabricator .

Once there the frame will be finished off with all the frame tube following the body and exhaust pipe lines.

I am really interested in the Marino (forum member).Fuel Injection system he mentioned as well as the Smart carb .

Lesst ways...I have to tackle the manifold issue, there will be a better engineered solution ...either avaible (FRP) or produced on the CNC.

Wheels...white lightweights 17 inch Cagiva multi spokes are matched to the forks and custom built yokes.

PVM discs are gripped by period 4 pot Brembo Gold callipers and Guido has supplied the servo motor, Zeeltronic ECU,,coils and other bits and pieces.

The Bimota VDue swing arm is shocked to see a Cavia SuperCity shock and top linkage, but it was a Cagiva Bimota concept.
.....not unlike the recently discovered Tamburini designed Husky as published by 2Bims on the UK F...Book site

Images of part completed ..to follow.

As I said....Moreno...or any info on that direct injection system would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Gavin

Second gen Cagiva Mito wheels were 6 spoke (Grimeca from memory), very similar to Cagiva Raptor 6 spoke that got used on the DB5(?)...

Full disclosure, my other project is a Cagiva Mito with a race kitted VJ23 RGV250SP motor (the electric start one)... Very nearly chopped in the rgv motor a few years back when a V-Due motor that had been used in a buggy was for sale down here...

Sounds like an interesting project for sure.....A bit like folk putting Vdue engines into an Aprilia RS250 chassis.

And grimeca wheels yeh.....At first glance I thought my Supercity Cagiva 125 had 3 spoke Marcheshini wheels...but no.....they are Grimeca also....I didn't even know they made wheels...brakes yes, but wheels no....Bit like brembo I suppose...as they have made wheels before in the past also

What's really neat about those three spoke wheels is that one half of the spoke is a cosmetic cover held on with a screw.
