|
|
I have been thinking about fitting an Oberon clutch slave cylinder to my DB2 as i understand the action is lighter and better ( i have a problem with my left wrist/ hand), i was wondering if anyone else on here has done this. The room between the engine and fairing looks tight, i was wondering if the oberon cylinder sticks out from the engine any further than the standard Ducati one. |

You should be fine rich yes...they are lighter to pull....but...what master cylinder or levers do you have?...if you are still on the old dog leg and black coffin pot brembo then change for gold series or radial...adjustable levers help also...maybe also change the clutch line....old ones can expand...and wear so less applied pressure in activating the clutch rod....if ordering oberon be sure to spec the engine....some need an extra piece pushing inside the unit to enable the clutch to disengage....upgrade all and fresh fluids....bleed the master off the bike. And its chalk and cheese.. |

Hard to say as to this, but i could certainly feel it lighter so worth it from my point of view . (Also got my slave cyl from Ebay nearly new for only £55!) _________________ Not as many bikes as I would like and already too many to keep up with! |

I think the stock slave piston is 26mm and the Oberon slave piston is 29mm, which makes it as lighter pull. I'm planning on fitting the Oberon slave to my DB4 _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Thanks Rich. They look like a nice unit. There's a few different aftermarket slaves out there, but I like the look of the Oberon one. Hopefully you'll (well, all of us) will be able to get out for a ride very soon _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Chose the Titanium in the end, looks OK(not that you can really see it behind the fairing) |

I think it'll be just visible on the DB4. I was thinking of going with the gold slave, but not sure if it'll be a bit too 'blingy'. There are some other splashes of gold on the DB4 so it might look alright. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

You can also additionally add washers under springs of the clutch. When I bought new push plate (Ducati Performance) the washers were included. In general 2 valve engines can have washer under every spring, 4 valve engines under every other spring. I can measure them if you need... _________________ Bimota DB7, Bimota DB5 Mille, Ducati 916, Ducati M900, Benelli Tornado Tre |

On the topic of hydraulic clutches, a common mod on FZR engines like in the YB8 is to delete the hydraulic clutch and fit a cable operated clutch, as I have done in my race bike.
Funny how you get some upgrades like the one in this post with a change in slave cylinder size, other upgrades where you go from cable to hydraulic, and other upgrades where you go from hydraulic to cable. What is best? I guess it's just a case of what you prefer. |
