Hi Guy's sorry me again,
having sorted the starter solenoid issue thanks to Jonny, the bike been filled up with fresh fluids, the fuel pump been taken out and bye passed as recommended. Went to go for a start up using an aux fuel tank which was hung from a beam from the garage roof "so plenty of head". No 1 and 2 cylinders fired up almost straight away but nothing from 3 and 4, I've double checked the fuel lines everything correct there, tried again, again the same.
I'm puzzled if l'm correct, the cylinders on the ignition circuit 1&4 and 2&3 are paired - connected together so doubting it's a coil or electrical that leaves fuelling but to loose both cylinders strange one. Any pointers - ideas of a fix or a reason for this problem much appreciated.
Cheers

Are 3 & 4 getting spark Chris? I’ve had spark plugs fail on my 6 in the past, but not 2 at the same time. Going by what you’ve described, there should be no reason for it to be a fuel issue if all you’ve done is remove the pump.

Have you connected the fuel pipe into 3 & 4? Has it stood for a long time - do you need to re-furb the carbs?

Are the carbs balanced? How many turns on the mixture screws?

Hi Jonny, had the carbs on the bench float chambers off and checked they were in very good shape to be honest. T piece fitted to the fuel line from the tank l suppose one line to 1&2 carbs and the other to 3&4 . I'm thinking of an air lock to 3&4 but my aux tank has more than enough head to force fuel through l would hope? I'm thinking it's fueling being it's 3&4

Yes, sounds like fuel to me. Water in the float bowls?

Have you connected the aux tank with a t piece or a y piece? Perhaps you’ve got too much head of fuel for 3 & 4 and it’s overwhelming the float valves, to give you too high a fuel level in those carbs for the pilots to do their thing.

That’s why I suggested checking the spark first. As I said, spark plugs do seem to fail in these bikes, but having two go at the same time is unusual. Glad you got it sorted

Maybe one was on its way out....and the strain on its adjoining cylinder put paid to the other one....Light bulbs in series are like that....one blows....dont replace it quick enough...and the other blows due to it receiving an increased load.....
