Hello"......bearing in mind that some of us had our Bimota fantasies before we could actually afford them.

There was a Bimota importer down south (England) called Kinetic Art...in the 1980s
They were renown for their paint designs ....which just upped the ‘Bimota wish list’

Any one recall who did the artwork or paint work.....it was not the bike dealer.
Any one familiar with a current cutting edge design paintwork company

Some on must have had one of their products?

Galleria in cranleigh was the dealer...kinetic art the painter..my db2 was originally done by them many many moons ago

In the Bikes for sale there is a YB 8......with a quote of stock...all on Kinetic Art paperwork

It states Kinatic Art are the importers ....so who were the designers / painters

And does anyone know of any cutting edge painters/ designers?

2Bims......you have to go check your old designs on the db1

I bought my YB9 Bellaria from Kinetic Art in April 1991. They were based in Loxwood south of Guildford, and were managed by David Pickworth (a sometimes racer who also managed some decent UK racers). They used a specialist painter called Steve (something or other.... I will try and check my files!). He ran his own paint and graphic design business out of South London. Some of his graphic design work was fantastic. His bike spraying was also top notch, although some of it is down to personal taste.. he often had to do what the customer wanted. Kinetic Art bought some stock from Follett's London when Follett's folded (late 1990 if I recall). The Tesi was launched in the UK from Kinetic Art's showroom. But then only a couple or so years after Kinetic Art opened they too folded. David Pickworth subsequently started up Galleria in Cranleigh... not sure if he again took stock from Kinetic Art. Also I'm not sure who were the financial backers (Kinetic Art was backed by a pair of brothers who had a green Countach Anniversary which occasionally turned up at the showroom). My Bellaria still wears the paint scheme Steve put on it after the bike sadly toppled off its side stand on soft tarmac when I and a few others did a ride to the factory in 1992...we rode the Furano and a YB8 with Gianlucca Gallasso as factory test rider at the time (he of 600cc Italian championship fame on a Bellaria I think). Steve painted the bike in the same colours as stock but changed the emphasis and added some silver... I prefer it to the rather bland stock scheme...but that's my taste and may not be yours! If I can find anything more about Steve the painter I will post here. Cheers, Dave

PS Matthew Casey may know Steve's details. Matthew did a lot of servicing on UK Bimotas in the early 90's, including mine, before he went back to the Southern Hemisphere! Simon Watson at Race Engineering took over some of Matthew's clients, including me.

Bellaria (owned from new 1991), only one left after emigrating from UK. In the past have owned a Tuarata, Tesi ES, YB11 and YB6Exup. Loved all to some degree or other>

If anyone one has any images ....It would be greatly appreciated

I have always felt that bikes like Bimota need or deserve more than the standard issue paint job

Those early Kinetic Art samples were spectacular

you want some crazy colour schemes? David Pickworth.....now resides in Venice...friends with him on FB

I used to laugh at this colour scheme...

And then I spotted this image...complete with numberplate

Which just so happened to be familiar....and then I realised it was my bike before my private plate went on it

Backed up by the powder coaters who stripped off the gold paint on the wheels...to find yellow up front and purple on the rear...and then white original under that....which is what I went back to

Bike is painted reverse colours different on each side

THey didnt stop there.....they did an SB7 also

And then of course...the TESI

CP3O as she was titled....we can rebuild her

PErsonally?...Black and gold for me

other colours work well....but I'm no designer

I had Kinetic Art respray my DB2 - probably the more ordinary paint job they ever did. The bike has been laid up under a dust sheet for 20 years - being recommissioned this year. I'd share a pic but damned if I can work out how to upload one on this forum...!

The Black and gold DB1 turned up in the early 2000s at our local service center to have its belts changed and get running again, it had been traded in, up in Queensland somewhere. I made an offer on it which wasn't excepted. Once the service was done it disappeared for a bit. It has now appeared at a local Latins in the lane which is a monthly bike meet for Italian bikes.

Next time I see it Steve I will take a photo for you
