hello Bimota enthousiasts,
A while back I was very glad to be able to use the knowledge in this Forum with some fueling issues I had with my SRi. Unfortunately they are not solved but I stored this bike to do a quick resto in between and then came a second and third and I more less forgot about it.
Until last month. I have made it run but the plugs wet after a few seconds and the engine runs very rough. I suspect the fuel injectors to be either dirty or faulty.
The bike never run with de EFI fitted during my custody as it came with Keihin CR 33 racing carbs. After I found an injector rail and filter box on Ebay I was able to complete the OEM installation.
My Question is this: what is the p/n of the original YB9sri fuel injectors so I can check if my bike has the correct ones?

2 queries maybe relevant but I don't know.....
when it was converted to carbs was the ecu changed to suit them, as in an ecu from the SR model or a Yamaha thundercat?
If not try raising the potentiometer slightly to lean up the mixture. Might help, worked on mine. |

Hi Phil,
Thanks for your reply. It seems that my injectors are different.
I cannot open your link as my computer thinks it is a virus.
My injectors have number Bosch 0280150701. Are they optional of just wrong?
If I google these I get BMW M3. This is a 2300CC 4-cylinder car. I know the size of the injectors is not the whole story. It is also the time the injector is held open but I might explain the richness and wetting if they turn out to be incorrect.

I happened to have a parts cataloque and just found out that 0503406310 is clearly a Bimota P/n. No Bosch number.
I tink the only solution is if someone would have a look at their injectors and copy the number for me.

I have my bike booked in for a service and disc replacement in about 3 weeks time so I can ask the lad doing it to see if he can see the injector part no. when he has the bodywork off. Can't remember how visible they are even with the airbox off but will check then if you can wait that long? |

Yes please!
Unless another forum member can reach his injectors sooner.
The number on the injector is easily readable, I think even with the filterbox on.

I have had the Bosch 280150701 fitted to my SRi checked by a specialist as I suspected they would be either dirty or just worn. They turn out to be perfect. Now my only hope that they are the wrong type.

Hi William, have the bodywork off at the moment but with only the smaller air box off I cant see enough of the injectors to get a number for you.The larger back air box is too much in the way and I am afraid I don't fancy taking it off as it is a worry to me when putting it back on that all 4 airway sleeves are seated evenly so sorry about that. I am a mechanical klutz with limitations I am afraid! |

Through Bimota classic parts I was able to get the OEM injector number and unfortunately my Bosch 280150701 is the original fitment.
Any thoughts of what could cause the richness? |

I'm afraid I have no experience of the specifics of your machine, but if it's running rich, I'd advise you to check your temperature sensors (both coolant and air temperature) - the ECU will use the sensed temperatures to determine the fuel pulse width, and if underreading, the ECU will think that the bike or air is much colder than it really is, and add fuel to compensate.
I had a similar problem with a '94 916 earlier this year - turned out to be my air sensor, which was reading below zero.
Might not be the cause of your issue, but one to check.

Ciao,
I have been busy with the stubborn YB9. I have two things to investigate; the CR, which seems low but is a cold measurement so maybe not representative and the TPS which gives strange readings. I cannot adjust the TPS to give less than 1.16V with throttle valves fully closed. This equals to 1.5V at idle setting. WOT is 4.95V. I do not have technical data for this system but read that almost all bikes should have aprox 0.15V at throttle closed which equals to about 0.5V with butterflies set at idle. Completely different than what I measure.
It seems the SPS is an old Bosch unit 0261211003 used in 80's Alfa's but now hard to get and expensive at around Gpb140. I will not spend this money before I know mine is faulty.
Is there somebody on this forum who has set his TPS and remembers the values?
