Hi folks,
Good news today have got my tax disc for the bike.

The SB8K is now totally road legal and running great, more torquey and smooth than ever.

Only thing is I am really waiting for my seat which is being recovered by someone local.

The rear indicators are also currently some YB11 period indicators I had as spares, so I could do with changing them too sometime.

I notice that SB8K indicators are the same as Griso except the Griso has a fake chrome finish. They are also very similar to some Buell and Triumph models.

The seat is taking a long long time because of the bimota logo which is being embroidered.

In the meantime, its quite a hard ride without that seat but really low c of g!

Here is what the seat should look like when its finished..........

Hopefully not too fancy for the bike when its on there.

Will post a final picture when its on the bike.

Here are some pix of the bike with the seat covered. Its a nice job I think. Bike is going well - final tweak to TPS and it will be perfect, was too lean - now too rich, back it off a bit and we'll be there. Last touch will be a bit of flourescent orange tape on the seat hump!

My tuning and my luck must be better than I thought.

Was overtaking a lorry today up a steep hill..in style and doing my usual seat of the pants dyno testing...but suddenly the bike revved out.

Thought I'd blown the clutch but it was "just" the chain snapping!

One of the links had literally snapped in the middle of the side plate from what I could see.

No visible damage done to the bike thank goodness!

Your lucky, not for the chain snapping but it could have done a lot of damage.

I agree this was lucky and unlucky.

Lucky because last time a chain snapped it really damaged the crankcases, (on a tuned up XN85) Surprised

. Have also heard about severe damage to the rider with the chain whipping up etc.

Also lucky that the SB8K is running so well it broke the chain in the first place Twisted Evil

Unlucky because the chained snapped when in most cases you get notice e.g. the rear wheel would have spun or the front wheel would have lifted If I had not been going up a steep hill maybe thats what would have happened? Confused

Well you'll have a new chain on it now ... maybe send the last one back to the manufacturer and ask for a replacement.

Good thought Evil, not sure who would have made it tho, it was the OE item.

I left the chain at the side of the road, really should have kept it for my chamber of mechanical horrors, in the section which includes a sheared guzzi U.J. which took out the swinging arm and gearbox casing....

If it was the original chain it was probably a Regina. I've heard of a number of people who've had them break. They're probably alright for a bath plug, but you wouldn't want 'em anywhere near a bike Laughing

Nice new goldie looking Tsubaka chain has added at least 20bhp to the rear wheel.
