Im trying to find a replacement roller for the rear engine mount frame to stop the bottom run of the chain rubbing it. Its a plastic roller, 30mm internal diameter. Does any one know where to get one, or what bike it is from??
cheers Laughing

Seeing as its a big single rotax engine Nige. more akin to off road bikes, that would be your best bet to start looking, either at motorcycle specs.ze and look at pictures, KTM etc. In my fresher distant past I did enduros and all bikes had the rollers you are talking about due to the slackness required in the chain due to the excessive movement needed of the rear swing arm, just like your BB1, everyone I see has a very slack chain, presumably tightening up when you sit on the bike, DB2 chain check is done the same way. Motocross specialist are your best bet
Chain rollers, lots of em, apologies didn't look through all 645 items on ebay for exact 30mm one, some at 32mm, and larger, perhaps sleeve one down?

here we are, the engine mount it rolls around is 30mm, this is 32mm id and 40mm od - well whats left of the outside! I've no idea whether the original had a flat surface or was cut to fit the rollers of the chain? I'll have a look on ebay first Smile Niges coffee house always open Smile

Jeeso Nige, no wonder you are looking for a new one, before the chain saws the rest of the bike in half.
Looking at one of the others on the Forum I assume its the top roller in the picture below?

Normally the roller's come with a bearing that you bolt through to help it spin, and they may well have outer guides on the edges to keep the chain central, but the rest of the surface would have been flat, a long long time ago.
Happy shopping, other than contacting other BB1 owners directly from the Forum. I could also search out other BB1 owners from the Oldie Bimota Enthusiasts club if you wish as I still have their contacts

yes its a gud un! I suspect it is raised on the outer edges and flat in the middle. Nope no bearing -looks like a bit of plastic pipe for a washing machine - perhaps zanussi??? Shocked If anyone has a picci of one in better nick or from a parts manual so I can make one much appreciated.

I've got to pop out a lunchtime and pass by the BMW motorcycle dealer in Manchester, so will drop by and view there F650 funduro and other type bikes to see what they use. You never know, engine from them, perhaps Bimota used their rollers also. Like the back light unit on YB11, DB4 plus others, exact same unit still used by BMW on their bikes

well shiny new roller made and fitted. The problem looks like its a result of fitting a much larger engine sprocket to make the chain clear the swinging arm on the top chain run. This brings the bottom chain into contact with the engine mounting bracket and thus the need for a roller to protect the bracket. I'll see how my home made one lasts the distance!

Did you end up going to that plastics place near you? How much was your fix in the end, and were they obliging in cutting a piece to size for you? Interested in their service as they offer polishing done on site, kits for sale etc, did they seem like a good set of lads?

Sounds like a good reult, and enough length left over for a couple of spare parts, should stuck them on ebay for a tenner a piece, usual commission my way of course. Hoping to bank enough commission for a sit on your v-due one day, and if I'm really really good......
