This DB1 has been for sale for quite a while. It's about 1 1/2 hrs from where i live. I've been going to give him a call and maybe go and have a look. 25k sounds a bit rich? But i guess it's worth as much as someone will pay.
What do you recon a DB1 in this condition is worth???
Cheers,

Prices for DB1 machines are hard to pin down.
No one "needs" a DB1, people only "want" them. And the price can come down to how much the seller still wants it and how much the buyer wants it. Also how desperate the seller is for money.
The one I sold in bits was the cheapest I have seen sell in years.
The new 5km bike 0023 that was on ebay was a very high "idiot collector with more money then sense" price.
So their is a large range in pricing. This is what happens when a bike is in the process of becoming a blue chip collectable with the values razing.... not everyone has the same level of appreciation for them at the same time. But when the process runs it course (takes years) the prices become more constant.
Having said that my opinion is the Ozzie bike might be a few grand Ozzie to high at the moment..... depending on inspection of course....
I think their are three prices for bikes. The low price that sells it in a week, the high price that sells it in a year and the right price the sells it in a month. So it's all about the time it takes to find the right buyer.
Worth going to check it and the owner out and see.... you might regret it later if you find it ended up selling for less than you would pay!
regards

My first DB1 was an ex race bike too with a replacement motor!
Then I had the chance to grab a mates bike that was mint and very orginal and I took it. One less project to do!
Your price was pretty close to what I sold my project DB1 for.
I paid more for the next one but it was still "mates rates" and he has the first right to buy it back if it come up again.
Regards
Gavin

You've forgotten the sometimes "all important" fourth price. This occurs when the owners partner insists the "toy" sat in her lounge for the last 15 years has to go, and owner lists at such a rediculous price it never actually sells, and then he gets to keep it, simples. The other rather sad "fifth price" is when the owner passes away and surviving partner just wants rid for whatever price they can get for it |
