I've had a bit of a problem with a rear sprocket retaining bolt on the YB4
One of the bolts, although lock tighted in, decided to work loose and has made a bit of a mess of the rear swing arm. The swingarm can probably be repaired to an adequate condition by an ali welder. I was wondering if anybody knows where a new(ish) one may be obtained.
I've checked on the german website but nothing there.
I'm gutted, the bike was shipped to Portugal (where I am at the moment) last weekend and I planned to go to the World Superbikes this weeked on it. Now it's laid up in a garage.
I've taken some pictures and will get them up at some point. |

You might try Padgetts - they raced and imported some Bimotas at some point
You could try Speedie Sie on the PB Forum for a repair _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I'll drop an email to Padgetts to see if they've still got any bits lying around. The bike was purchased from them in '88.
Here's the damage
It happened on a concrete autoroute. I felt some vibration and put it down to the surface of the road (which vibrates the ZZR1400 aswell). There was no noticable rolling resistance or audible noise. It was only as I walked past it the next morning that I noticed the aluminium deposit on top of the swing arm. I suppose I'm lucky it didn't break and fetch me off, damaging the bike even further. I don't really feel lucky at present. |

Mate, you are "Fucking Lucky". If that had let go you'd have been off but chain could have whipped and caught you too.
Of course the bike's a write off and I'll be robbing myself in offering you the scrap value ... call it a tenner and you buy me a drink
Seriously though, it's nothing that can't be repaired _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Cheers EC, I'll be in touch The bike was purchased from Padgetts, I've emailed them but no reply yet.
Since I started my search I have managed to find a needle in a haystack, a bag of magic beans, several hens teeth, and some rocking horse s**t. But no news on a swing arm.
I plan on bringing this one back in my luggage and get it fixed in the UK. If the swing arm is the same as the YB7 I'll strip that out, as it'll probably be off the road over winter, and get it fitted to the YB4 in Portugal to enjoy the weather.
The hunt continues! Maybe I'll find Lord Lucan while I'm at it. |

I think it may be quicker and cheaper to find some one to repair it... How about a drag bike builder? They are always modifying swing arms to make them longer? _________________ Pomps

That's a bugger, I saw one for sale at an autojumble in Germany a couple of weeks ago. On the subject of what to do,if you are the chap I spoke to in Derby ages ago about Bimotas, there is a chap on your doorstep who may be able to fix that for you if anybody can.
PM me for his details. |

Hi
Ouch.
Similar happened to a friend when a tyre place left out the spacer between the sprocket carrier and wheel on his ZX6R. After a few hundred miles the bearing in the sprocket carrier collapsed.
All the best
