If I ever got to bed before 1am I might try and read it!

picked it up yesterday, looks very good, some interesting notes on rebuilding your own suspension. Modern and up to date. I'd recommmend it!

i guess it would be over my budget. I've seen a few tidy VJ22s (M model with banana swinger) for mid 2's, which seems about right for a nice example.
I had an L model in genuine pepsi colours years ago. damn thing was thirsty, 19mpg when the weather was cold!

How about going Italian and getting an Arilia RS250, same RGV engine, italian styling, but hopefully Japanese electrics?

I've been selling some 5-600 Old Motorbike magazines on gayBay for the last few months and 8 out of 10 of them sold concern RGV's NSR's, TZR's, Kr-1S and the grey 400 Market bikes, born again bikers buying now what they couldn't afford 20 years ago, if there are any that have escaped my radar then I haven't found one. Thought about the Aprilia, even 350 YPVS are now on the up, evidently 250/350LC's already gone beserk, Kettle, H1,2,3 already gone mad. Went ot see an FZR400RR, and should have sued the trader under the trade descriptions act for gross misconduct, I mean try and get the mileage right, and don't convert it from KMs to miles when the speedo is clearly already in Mph, etc

Only thing stopping me is their physical size (and mine), just don't think I would look right on one, and it would seem strange pulling up on a smoking stinking 250, and pulling your lid off to reveal a grey haired aging fellow

Well I did consider an RS. would makes sense as 3 out of the 4 bikes i have are italian.
I bought an NC30 and did a light restore/tidy up on it. It's lovely, std other than a nice ohlins shocks, upgraded forks. tho as the std exhaust system had been cut anyway I've fitted an ART can.
It's great, £50 to insure, a packet of smarties to tax (£35) and a whole bunch of fun.
really I'm hankering after an OW01 but the prices have rocketed recently, a couple of years ago they were going for 4-5k, not double that! Really it's figuring out what's going to rocket next and buying one before it does. Sadly as someone mentioned before it's uinlikely to be Bimota's as they were so far out of reach of most folk when new that they attract lesser interest now

As you say Bimota are just off Peoples Radar, once they were outside of 99% of peoples reach, and still perceived as such by the majority of people. Suppose it leaves more for the rest of us to squabble and haggle over? Put it into perspective, a DB2 was 13.5K in 1994 which equates to 27,000 in todays money, if new.
AN NSR250 smart Card if imported brand new in 1994 was over 6K, which although less than half a DB2 was only 1K cheaper than a brand new fireblade, so I suppose they seem "cheap" at current prices, and probably the spares market is better than with Bimota, i.e. if its not NOS from Germany its make it yourself
Next Big thing, for me it would be the next down on the list of retro bikes, 2 strokes have all gone crazy, but good clean ZXR750's H1's H2, ZRX1100's perhaps Blades, Exups etc? Z's all too dear, GPZ's perhaps?

I have noticed all the 70's stuff on ebay doesn't hang around very long. Even in non standard trim or basket cases, they all sell.

I had a GSXR1100K in genuine (as in supplied new by suzuki) Durex colours, which i got rid of to find space for the YB11. As Oily know only too well as I keep bitchin' about it, i'd like that back. There were only 50 done in Durex colours, and of course they are the safest bikes on the road Johnny. . . . . .

Sounds like a money spinner that one, and a good chance they'll still look better and have less miles on the clock than relative girlfriends from 20 years ago, they'll weigh less with rust rather than more, may have slowed up a little but a little tinkering and they could be back to normal, less baggage attached (or if so, easily detached). But........

Some things from back in time and History are best left there if not then I'd still be riding my first bike a Yamaha blue DT125LC Laughing
Think I've posted it before, but click on Ask Mid

http://www.askmid.co.uk/

Enter the Reg No. and it'll let you know if its still insured, then you know its still around on that basis, other than that theres Text check. 3 squid for you to just text the reg No. to 78888 and you get a full HPI report, and whether its Cat a/b/c/d finance, etc But due to Data Protection Act theres no where that you can get the name and address of owner from a reg plate unless you know a dodgy PC plod or have friends at DVLA

Having said that didn't the DVLA lose a CDrom of their entire database some time last year? Got sent normal post and never made it to recipient, so the info is out there somwhere.... (and no I don't have it)
Shortly after the disc went missing a Whole truck load of Blank V5's from the printers was stolen, which is why we are all getting our V5's re-issued, they reckon it'll take 2 years from start to finish. Typical incompetents, have sent me 2 already for 2 bikes, in separate posts, still waiting for the other 2 and a car. All courtesy of the taxpayers......

There thats enough, put my soapbox away have to chill , its weekend time. Have 2 bikes I'm hunting.....
