and so it starts....here's a list of questions and observations
So what Aprilia gave up it's headlights to hide behind the Bimota fairing? Was wondering if i might be able to find a UK set.
So this bad boy is the fuel tank sender. My reserve light is on all the time. Anyone know how to test the unit?
The speedo element of this wonderful piece of space age electronics is not working. I've found that the pick-up at the wheel is a Magnetti Marelli sensor more commonly found as a crank sensor in various Fords of the era so any easy and fairly cheap bit to find but any suggestions on how to test the unit whilst it is off?
Just remortgaged and sent off a shopping list to Paulo for air filter, fork seals, owners handbook, rubber straps to hold on tank, ECU etc. Forks out next to replace leaking seals, replace brake pads and free of stuck pistons. |

Hiya
Not sure on the headlights. I suspected maybe AF1 Sintesi, but they are not lhd / rhd, nor is the surround black (nor are they that powerful!). Second guess would be Tuareg.
I think some people use Aprilia RS125 fork seals.
The brakes are pretty good for avoiding seizing up. I would suggest considering a Brembo master cylinder rather than the Yamaha one (I think the Tuatara used the Yamaha master cylinders like the Dieci). Gives far more feel.
I really must measure the tank straps. Got some that are very similar sold by a Ducati specialist.
Air filter may be the same as the one used on the YB8, etc. If so there is a K&N that can be used with a very minor mod.

just found a new ball ache job! Easy to drain the oil and remove the filter with the exhaust removed but how are you expected to get oil back in it????
Glad the petrol tank is off as a long tube with a funnel on the top seems the only way in. God knows how you do it with all the body work on!
I was going to change the plugs too but decided to leave well alone as it runs and starts well. Never going to get a ratchet in that space. |

Hi
Not sure on the oil filler as that is easy enough on a Dieci once the fairing panel is off.
And the plugs are a pain to do even on an FZ750!

Mrs S is working the entire weekend so time spent in the garage is producing results.
Front forks fitted with new seals (seals provided by BCP were wrong!) and reinstalled and wheel back in. Headers back from blasting and now ceramic coated refitted. New brakes pads all round and pistons all cleaned and moving as they should.
Found a broken wire in the loom to the speedo sensor which i fixed but the speedo is just giving off random readings so no idea what is causing that?
Ideas on a postcard please?
Fairing back on later and it will be coming with me to Donnington Park for the Endurance Legends event next week |

Speedo fixed! The connector I used to replace the broken one was not quite long enough to create a good connection hence the random readings as it created a circuit and then lost it again. Had to replace the entire connector and now I have a stable speedo reading, an odometer that works and a trip function. |

Would be good to have a spare set. Let me know what I will owe you. I will be in the track day paddock both days. Blue Moriwaki Z1 and the Bimota so should be easy to spot. |
