Would it not be easyer to make a billet cover like the streetfighter boys do.
i.e. a plate with the cutout for the slave and separate spacers.

Just a thought.

Depends on what "easier" is.
I have a couple of sanders and an angle grinder but sadly no cnc lathe ... my feels kinda empty now but nevermind.

So "easier" for me at the moment is to get another cover, cut and fit it.

What a complete pain in the tits this has turned into.

I got a cover off the bay (for 99p) and proceeded to cut it. I left the bottom bit to the gearchange because it would have to extra bolt fixing and I thought that would strengthen everything up.
In the mean time I found the fork seal had let go and with a lot going on I decided to farm that out. So, I moved the bike into the garage because once the forks were off I wouldn't be able to move it on my own.
I dropped the engine and fitted the cover then couldn't the engine to sit right in the frame - bugger. I'd got the top mounts in but just couldn't get the bottom to fit. After a while I saw the new casing was touching the frame at the back - Bimota cut it at the last bolt housing. I didn't want to drop the engine and remove the cover again and there's no electricity in my garage (I use a head torch). I got my key saw out and cut it from the top. Ping and the frame settled almost into place.

Fitting the headers I popped off the oil cooler line and then knocked over the bowl catching the oil - I cleaned it up and threw away all those paper towels and gloves. Really wish I hadn't left my wedding ring in one of the gloves though. Crying or Very sad

Anyway, it came to putting the side stand back in but that extra bolt fixing is where the locating bolt is and I couldn't pull the cover out (because of the now inexcessable bolt), so again used the keysaw. That took a while but now it's all back together.

The forks should be here tomorrow. I go to Japan (tornados permitting) on Thursday and back Sunday week. I need the bike for trackdays in Belgium and France on the Wednesday ... somewhere there has to be a MOT .... Confused

Chuckie

If you haven't applied for copyright on that first sentence, I think it could usefully start every thread on the Forum Laughing

Hope it comes back together for your track days.

Did you end up finding your wedding ring?

So, after all the extra cutting on the new cover, did it end up much different from the 'original' Bimota modified cover?

Hope you get it sorted for the track days Boris.

Fitted up the forks and wheel so I could get it out of the garage. Bled the clutch in and it feels like its done the trick, there's no movement at all from the slave. Smile
Gave it a wash too, funny how seeing it nice an clean can raise my spirits. Put the batteries on charge

back from japan.
Seems the bike wants to have a fight every step of the way. On Sunday full of jetlag I went to the garage to get the bike ready for MOT, I thought it was a matter of messing about with the bars and levers then put the bodywork on.
The backlight wouldn't come on though, so I checked the block connector at the loom - a wire was off, so simple fix. I just put another block connector on it.
Still no light though. I found one of those insulated crimps joining the backlight to the loom, which fell apart ... so a new bullet connector and ...
Still no back light.
Opened up the light and 3 transistors fell out, hmmm.
Rang a friend to find any shops open on Sunday and then set off to Hanger Lane in my overalls trying to make it for 4 pm closing. Got the light, crimped on some bullets and now we have a backlight Smile

Got my other jobs done and I've booked it in for first thing Wednesday which is the morning of the bike holiday Surprised
