I thinkl I know the one you mean, it's quite/very cheap
which is worrying, but these old things are not in such massive demand.
Probably needs a bit of work doing- something for the evenings when you get back from riding your (am I allowed to say what is is yet?) 'new Bim'.
An early 851 would fit nicely in any collection and the 8 valve engine is something special.
It would depend if I had the money lying around or not. The shipping option is also a big pull
good luck

As you know, I know very little about doochatys but that does sound reasonable.
Just found a VFR1000 for sale at £10k+
and have just been approached about the sale of a SB6 and a mantra locally.
He may (or may not) want stupid pounds and the sb6 will obviously be snapped up by me or pomps (probably) but there might be a mantra up for grabs.
Watch this space |
My eyes are tiring watching the space. Any updates on the Mantra/SB6 or are you still mid-negotiation?
Update for my potential new baby is no news is good news?
Bad weather in mainland Europe delayed collection until today with delivery tomorrow PM Mancland time, or as we say round here, just after Fish and Chip shop closing hours
Heard nothing today so am assuming no problems encountered.
My dear other half has also altered Valentines tomorrow to see my "happy" face if it arrives, and also as a back up plan
to be in on the wednesday if delayed as I'm away working that day.
Better had turn up, as new bits have already started to arrive, and I'll look darn silly trying to bolt them on to an invisible DB...........1....................3...........4......5.........6.........7.........8.........., Eaney meaney miney Mo
Thus assuming tomorrow delivery, I'll be sure to post up piccies, if total no show, I'll be hibernating in my man cave for a month or so....till the depression clears

Yeh thats a toughie that one, only comment that can be thrown into the mix is whether the owner uses them at all, if they are rideable, and Shirley the owner (if thats her name) would prefer to see them have new fire breathed into, ridded, admired and cossetted, and enjoyed by many just by being back out on the road?
I'm still in contact with the previous owner of my 2Bims, who's a younger man than myself and is happy to see them back together and being used, photos are sent to him like Xmas cards, and he always comes back with a tale or two that has popped back into his recollective,,,"Oh I remember when ....." etc
Only caution is when his wife saw the photos of them all cleaned up and road worthy she said "Oh If I had known they were that nice I'd have let you keep them......." |

|
|
| Its been a long gestation period, some 2 years, a long delivery, intense labour has been toiled through for some 9 days and counting, contractions closer, New Baby due to be dleivered in less than one hour, that will be one relief, the next will be slap its arse and see if she screams and check for right number of toes and fingers etc........Oooh the tension is killing me, might wheel her into the lounge for safe keeping tonight so I can sleep, or better still, move my bed into the garage, mezzanine style, its not like I use most of the rooms anyhow, just slot a toaster and kettle in there and I'm done. Better still , rent out the rest of the house and that'll give me some spare Wonga for more Bims??? |
