As there seems to be very little traffic on the forum, I wish to throw a few mods I have been thinking off out to the wider audience to see what ideas I get.
These are just a few things I'm considering to give the sb6 a bit of a freshen up.
1, Batteries - anyone replaced with a single ? anyone repositioned ?
2, Forks - anyone replaced with USD. If so , what used and any issues.
3, Exhaust - other than a nice moto corse number from those lovely Jap titanium fabricators I know of no other option to get a lighter , free flowing system. Anyone know of a full system or had one made ?

Answers in order................
1. Can see no reason why a single battery cannot be used, certainly reduce front tyre wear Laughing
Repositioning the battery is a tad more difficult. Move it to where exactly Question
2. I've got a very nice Paioli USD front end sat here doing nothing. Marchesini wheel Brembo brakes etc should slot in with minimum fuss. Been saving it to rplace the fors n one of the 3 sb6's I keep tripping over but that's probably not going happen now Wink
3.You cold always have a nice exhaust custom made. Quite a few company's out there doing it. Big single carbon can with an oval outlet. Probably cheaper than moto corse Wink

1, I never said I knew where I was going to put the battery , just relocate. All depends on what single battery will do the job. Has anyone found a single that will fit in the front tray that appears reliable. Only thing I can think of is one of those Lithium race jobbies, that is so small it could go anywhere anyway. Idea is to get the wieght lower down.

2, I have a set of 50mm SB8 paiolis and spare set of BST's, but just wondering if anyone could let me know what I am actually letting myself in for.

3, Has anyone got experience of said one off system, can any old pipe bender slap up a full system and not make it run like a dog, or is the 1100 motor quite simple to please. The nearest man to me with a good reputation is Quill , anyone got any dealings with ?

Any other mods that might me worth thinking about. Cause likely bike will be in bits for a good few months if I start this.

Probably the most useful mod on a SB6 (which I keep promising to do) would be to "3 piece" the front fairing as I find it totally frustrating, struggling to take it off for every check/adjustment/inspection Wink

Maybe a ytz 12bs battery or the like.
Why Bimota fitted two low AH battrys in the first place is a mystery unless it was for ballast Wink

you've now got me in thinking mode which is never a good thing.
With winter fast approaching, I need to decide on this years winter project.
The plan was to lightly refurb the spare SB6 with a nut and bolt strip, bit of powder coating and any other minor problems sorting etc.
I'm now not sure I want to do another SB6 refurb so the choice is go mad again with a big bore and some rad mods like you vort or look for another winter project altogether.
Decisions decisions

There's thinking about, and there's doing. SB is top of the bike projects, but bike projects are at the bottom of ' house hold managements ' list. She wants a dining room , would you believe. Although that would be a warmer place to work on the sb during the winter.

Ahaaa, I built her a dining room a few years ago which enabled me to extend the garage. Now, when it gets too cold and knarley to ride every day, I retreat to the garage, light the pot belly, and get on with this years winter project. Wink
Thinking is for riding days
doing is for non riding days
household management is for non bikers Laughing

I think you should give her some pointers on riding without protective gear, and her technique seems to be a strange one.
