Actually that's Vanessa Upton - I knew her, we were in the same dance crew and I did a photoshoot with her too. She was always nice to me which goes a long way. I think she got married and moved to Spain. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Oh yes - got distracted there.
The "Racing Batteries" battery is a couple of mill bigger than 1 of the standard batteries but the standard ones have the terminals in the wrong place. Their website says they can build specials and I guess I'd be up for one if they did.
The best mod £ per performance on any bike are light wheels. I think the front is the same as a Ducati 916 if you keep the original forks. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I haven't had my SB6 for long, but i have benn thinking about those ugly batteries mounted so bloody high too.
Has anyone tried getting rid of the airbox and fitting some pod air filters? That would leave enough room to put a full size battery in down lower and out of the way.
I'd also be interested to see what's available in exhausts. I can't believe how heavy the original exhaust is.

Evil - respect , that is one NICE friend.
Vanessa's performance at the bike show in 2004/5 ( I think) was worth the twenty something pound admission on preview day.
Brian - removing the airbox and putting the battery there has been tried before. I believe getting an SB6 to run on 'pod' filters is quite difficult. I did find putting a second aperture in the lower part of the box, on the other side to the standard one worked quite well . Oh , and welcome to the wonderful world of the SB6. |

I'm with Vort on that. Getting the standard carbs to work with pods is a bitch. You could always invest in some flatslides |

If you want to mod the SB6 engine then you need some late GSXR750W cams, a 1147cc kit (JE or Wiseco pistons) and flow the head. You could go bigger (1200cc) but then you need special liners
If you want to go further the 750W gears will fit (with a 750 clutch) so you have a 6 speed box.
Different chain, a 520 would be a lot lighter and of course lowering the gearing on the sprokets, of course you'll need to swing the engine forward by removing the rear mounts.
Try a 70 profile front tyre, but you'll need to stretch up the mudgard mounting holes a bit.
You can fit billet Brembo front calipers, they don't flex as much, a billet master is a nice touch too.
Double bubble screen perhaps.
Change the "headlights" if they're standard, ride it once at night to understand why the quote marks are used. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Fair enough. I didn't realize that it would be difficult to tune with pods on the carbs. It certainly would give you room for a battery down there though without the airbox. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

It's possible but not standard.
Also there's a mod for the alternator gear bearings - you need the engine dropped to do this though. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I know very little about carbies. How do i know if they're flatslides? I can try to post a pic of them. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Yeah, try and post a pic Brian, you'll soon be told if you've got very desirable flat slides and if you have, I've got a mint set of standard 40mm CV's I'll swap for um |

They usually make some noise (rattling) at idle. I don't think they will fit without notching the frame.

As Cbar says they can rattle, and if you've been running and riding hard for a while they can get a little irratic and idle faster than when intitally started, you may even have a seperate idle cabled adjuster to be able to adjust when on the move. If fitted with K&N cone air filters you will also get a nice wiff of petrol.
If they say Keihin FCR41's on the side and stamped race use only (removable sticker), I'm sure lots of folk will do you a swop
