Next off to the MOT, sort out any problems raised by the MOT examiner, and then ride the bike for a few months to see what breaks and what does not.

...That epitomises traditional bimota ownership Laughing

Nice looking bike...Congrats on almost finishing the project....they're never finished Wink

well that did not last long. Gear box bearings collapsed on main shaft so engine needs a complete strip and rebuild Crying or Very sad

Have another engine, but never run it, but might be able to make one good engine out of the two and avoid having to completely rebuild now; but leave as a job for next winter.

Will make a plan.

Might be tempting fate, but fitted the spare engine that was meant to be a non-runner. The valve gaps were all over the place, but money has been spent on it as the head has been gas flowed and it has Carrillo Rods.

Also fitted a new battery. Had a really bad experience with Tanya Batteries - would never, ever deal with them again. The battery they supplied was rubbish, they would not accept responsibility etc. So went and got a MotorBatt battery from M&P. Lot stronger then the lead acid rubbish from Tanya.

Well the engine only started!!!! And runs well. Managed to ride 20 miles today before the exhaust blew the patch out. Still cannot quite believe that it runs.

Might all turn to tears tomorrow - this project is full off false hope. But let's see.

Okay. Just over a year later.....

Covered a few hundred miles on the bike last year. Minor oil leaks etc which have been looked at over the winter.

Biggest issue was the exhaust, which was rotten and no amount of exhaust paste would patch up. To thin to weld up. Been trying to work out what to do; was just about to commission a new exhaust when.... a NOS unit for a YB9 Bellaria appeared on ebay. Very lucky. Now fitted, and a lot quieter.

Last major thing to do is set up the suspension. Again was lucky in that a set of NOS Marzocchi forks appeared on ebay so have a set to move to if necessary.

Next job will be to rebuild the knackered engine, but that is a job for the autumn.
