Anyone had this problem......

I know the fan is there to help dissipate engine heat but not by absorbing it.

That sure is a nice looking fan, aka Bimota engineering with it being so pretty yet once fitted will never ever be seen again. I always watch myself if I have started any of the bikes and am leaving them just to warm up, its amazing how much heat transfer can occur if the bike isn't actually moving, and thus not passing through an air stream. Once wondered what the orange gloop was once on the driveway, until I realised it was the front mudguard on a KTM enduro that was melting from the exhaust heat of the header. Unfortunately I only realised this after dipping my finger into the orangey gloop on the driveway, darn melted plastic is hot stuff. Bit like the signs in fish and chip shops, that say "this unit can be hot - do not touch" Well you just can't resist can ya?
