Has anyone done any modifications to their DB7/8?

Is what did you do and how successful have they been?

I just bought a 1098R complete motor with 800 miles on it and was thinking about porting the heads, adding Corsa cams, re-calibrating the WALBRO ECU and bolting it in next year to make a DB7 "R" to keep up with the new 1199 Ducati Superbike.

I would like to take a poll. What say you?

YES or NO?

A guy had a 1098R on a track day recently. He'd had the gearbox ratios changed to give it a close ratio box. It's probably more benefit on a track than a road

Otherwise

Yes

and light wheels

The DB7 has the lightest wheels around, unless someone in this forum knows otherwise? I think the Ducati Corsa racing gearbox is a great idea - THANKS!!!! (added to list).

Guys, I've recently come across some aluminium velocity stacks for the DB7/8 here http://www.ebay.de/itm/Bimota-DB-7-CNC-Aluminium-Ansaug-Trichter-Tuning-Hertrampf-/190585485230?pt=Motorrad_Kraftradteile&hash=item2c5fc7b7ae&clk_rvr_id=274209438747

and also some programmable DB7 velocity stacks as advertised in the parts section on this website.

Has anyone put these on their bike? and if so have they made much of a noticeable improvement?

yup I did put this velocity stacks on and it improves the top end power of my bike. Midrange and low end is about similar although on really low rpm it seem to lose out a little. You have to adjust the air bleed screw to help with idling though and it woeks well without the exhuast baffles on Very Happy

Thanks for the feedback, did you get the engine remapped at all?

Also found few other bits including aluminium tank and link pipe that eliminates the catalytic converter

Is anyone running a reverse (GP) type shift on their bike? and if so how did you manage it? current shift rod is to long to get it to work it seems?

I run GP shift on my DB2 with no problems. I convert all my road bikes to race shift, it makes far more sense for me that way around. Laughing

Yeah only problem is the shift rod is too long on the DB7 might have to get one made up if no one can suggest any alternatives.
