I'd rather leave mine un-butchered. It doesn't have to come off very often and when it does, it's not that big of a deal to get it off anyway.
Just my opinion _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Belay the last...........
Whilst preparing to fit the tail/seat section yesterday afternoon, I discoverd a few problems that needed rectifiying. No, not just all the rusty bolts but the carbon number plate holder is held on with rough cut strips of aluminium so probably a carbon repair needed there just the same as the big bore 6.
Also all the rusty bolts

.......Number plate holder needs a bit of attention.......
need to mix some resin and get a couple of layers of carbon fibre on it......
seems to be a common problem with the SB6, too much weight hung off 4 small bolts which pull through the megga thin carbon. _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Mine didn't have a problem until I sent for the last respray it was something else they bodged. They used bigger bolts and then didn't do them up. So the numberplate vibrated and then broke through.
I filled the holes with black plastex and then redrilled them it's been fine ever since _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

..Also knocked out some sturdy aluminium washers to help hold the cans on when it goes back together.........

I was going to suggest plastex, awesome stuff and totally responsible for fixing the 13 cracks in my NC30's 'totally mint and original bodywork'! _________________ 03 YB11, 03 Aprilia RSVR Edwards, 94 Ducati Superlight III, 95 Honda NC30, 04 Ducati 999S, 91 kawasaki KR1-S C2, 91 Ducati 851 USD Strada, 89 ZXR750H1, 90 ZXR400H1, 205 16v Rally Car, A6 2.7TDI Avant, STM R1 engined Phoenix |

I know this doesn't look great but I used Plastex to sort out the bottom of the fairing. I filled it from the back onto masking tape, then from the front and finally sanded it back (with an electric sander). Better than the idots who tried to it before and just stuck the fairing together.
You find lots of things when you start to sand back, like how your "respray" is actually over the last paint ... no need for primer then. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Yep, I rate Plastex too......but for plastic repairs. For glass fibre and carbon fibre repairs I find it just as easy (easier) to mix some resin and use glass or carbon _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

I have to say plastex is one of the things I've been so impressed with tool wise in the past year, I fixed the seat mounting tabs on the NC30, they bear most of the riders weight and haven't broken. Impressed and dead easy and clean to use too

You can get fiber reinforcing cloth to use with it too, it's like carbone fiber but white _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Remember this?.............
GET ONE
Awsome bit of kit.
Tried it out on the 6R fighter and Wow, what a difference it made BUT me being sceptical, I had to double check soooo, I fitted it to the big bore
It was so good I had to take it back off the big bore and put it back on the 6R.
It brings bucket loads of power further down the rev range and makes it more usable. Really noticeable change in performance and only 5 minuets to fit. Mucho recommended _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)
