I may be in the market for a heated vest or jacket, yes I know, us southern softies blah blah Laughing
I need to know which brands are "quality" and which brands are poo.

Pompey, what brand are you using and do you recommend it old bean?

Any recommendations or pointers in my foray into heated clothing will be much appreciated,

Ithangyou

they are a great bit of kit. makes you much safer as you can relax on the bike and concentrate on riding... i have had mine a number of years and whilst on its works fine but i would not recommend it for a few reasons.

On mine I cant adjust heat, its on or off and thats it. other makes allow you to adjust which makes a difference if you start early in the morning when its freezing but the air temp. rises as the sun gets higher.

The electric fittings or joints from vest to bike are push and clip, which is ok until you stop forgetting you are still attached. As soon as you step away from the bike you are in danger of snapping the clips.

My vest is torso only. It heats your core which keeps everything else warm as your blood circulates. No need for thick clothing, heated grips or socks all the other crap you can get.

So may I suggest you look at the new versions with jack plug attachments which allow you to forget and walk away without risk, use a mesh instead of wire filaments making an even warming all over and full sleeve options...

I'll check out the best makes and prices for you bud. Then you go and source some pink leathers you shandy drinking, southerner!

Not seen that one before but looks like it has everything going for it as i outlined above. Bonus having a battery pack as well BUT... special forces and the marines have obviously gone down hill fast since I left if they are using it!!!! You should be staying warm by working hard and if you are not working hard you should be asleep, thats that!

Crying or Very sad dont buy from ebay. Go direct its nearly half the price. http://www.exo2.co.uk/

The waistcoat is much cheaper still and its all I have which works fine and doesn't restrict your arms in tight leathers...

Are these things an "age related issue"? Just wanting to check for when I get older, but prefer the prospect of just living in a country with a warmer climate? I have jackets and pants which have removable goretex waterproof liners and a removable thermal core also, and have been fine with this in winter. The missey would like to know whether they do female knickers versions though to keep her arse warm (and thats not just for when she's riding her bike - Razz

Still think they are a bit expensive compared to other products that can do the same thing. My local triumph dealer does a great set with jack plugs etc etc. I will pop in and find out the make. PS. 24 at heart just double that in body sadly....

Heard of a nice little secure compound in pakistan that's just come onto the market.
Apparently needs a good clean so that should bring the price down.
comes complete with half a helicopter in the garden for the kids to play on.

I was looking to book Tripoli holiday just before it all kicked off, so went to Egypt just after that went bad, honest I'm no instigator! Hopefully waiting for Libya to settle as am still looking at a ride along the Med from Morocco through to Egypt, but not on the Bimota I don't think it would put up with the tankbuster sized potholes
