Agree, would admins set up section for a register
Aware this is available on a Swiss Bimota site, but for whatever reason people do not want to register.

Keep it simple type (SB6) FRAME NUMBER (XXXX)
As I am not aware of any year of manufacture on frame or stamp, year of first registration on registration document, (if imported/exported from country to country this may be not available)

There is of course Chaos Theory which I think came about when some Astro Physicasist broke down in tears over trying sort out the SB6 numbering system and modifications.

Series 1 also (might of) had
GSX-R clocks and brake masters
Dymag H type wheels
Bigger offset front discs
smaller headlights (?)
Solid alloy rearsets

Series 2
Marchesini 3 spoke wheels
Ducati 916 / Yamaha YZF750 discs
"honda style" speedo / clocks
Brembo goldline master cylinders
The rear seat unit was strenghthened (?)

Series 3
Antera wheels

The front forks have optional adjusters at the top which became standard later on. Rasberry Ripple paint on the first series and also red (main colour) and graphite flashes on the series 2.

There was a race kit apparently, titanium exhaust and fork stanchions, uprated Brembo calipers.

The 6R frame lost the bracing to the headstock, the forkbrace swapped sides, the swingarm is stiffer and about 25mm longer.

The SB7's seat unit is different, my SB6 numberplate hanger fits at the back but is narrower at the front (I put an alloy channel section across it)

Just the first of dozens of anomalies that pop into my head is that some series 2 were also supplied with Antera wheels Wink

I'm sure your right
I expect Bimota orderred parts as and when ... then yhey'd possibly turn up when the cheque cleared .... and be used as needed. Bikes were probably nailed together form whatever was to hand.

Mine is a '96 model, frame number 1165, red and white with antera wheels. i'm not sure how that fits with the series theory?

I like the idea of a register.

To add more weight to the discussion, consider the following:

Only using the SB6 (not the R) model ,my research (open to others that may know) shown that there was 3 series produced of the SB6, main difference was colour (original, if you have a different colour, frame number-lower or higher may be only reference)

Series 1 WHITE,RED AND CARBON "SB6"LEGEND WAS RED & CARBON

Series 2 DARK GREY AND RED "SB6"LEGEND IN WHITE

Series 3 DARK GREY ONLY "SB6" LEGEND IN WHITE

My research also showed that

SERIES 1 NUMBER PRODUCED 790
SERIES 2 NUMBER PRODUCED 332
SERIES 3 NUMBER PRUDUCED 22 = 1144

I think that number for series 2 & 3 ,due to what may have transpired when factory closed and outlay of materials was being attempted to recoup, may be more.

So let see if this works

Frame numbers 0- 790 original colour series 1 ?
frame numbers 791 -1122 (?) original colour series 2 ?
frame numbers 1123- 1144 (??) original colour series 3 ?

Interested to see response
Your sequences don't work, and am not really surprise.
My SB6 so call serie 1 white red carbon has frame number SB6008**, my bike has also marchesini wheels from second typ and the modified instruments and the renforced body. Wink

My one is a Series 2 dark grey/ red, Antera wheels, registered new 2000
frame number 00971

When Bimota bought back all the "duff" V-Dues, wander what they did with them - scrapyard somewhere ????

I think a small amount of confusion is introduced by the registration dates as well.......

....I also have a Series 2 dark grey/ red, Antera wheels, frame number 1248, so much later than yours Marty BUT registered towards the beginning of 1997.

A sign perhaps of how long some Bimota's hung around at dealers before being sold.

My Red/White/Carbon with who knows what wheels(series 1 or 4?) which has a frame number of just 18 before my series 2 (1230) was not registered until late 1998.

Who knows

Martin Bimota enthusiasts hasn't written then the first serie was frame 1 to 790 but only 790 were built.
The duff V dues were bought by pietro when he bought the whole stock of bikes, parts and so on after the bankcrupty Cool

Ummmmmm..........
The plot thickens, both my SB6's are on there but I'm 2 feet away from 1230 at the moment and it aint looking very Red/Grey to me...........

...Now you may say, and I would have been inclined to agree, that it's had a colour/bodywork change but nothing shows up on any of the UK searches including the police data base thingy........

Any hoo, Gather all this information together Marty as Keith is sorting out a register for us so we will be able to sort out some semblance of order to this.....well as much as possible Laughing
