Never heard that phrase before. I probably should be offended, but it was just too funny. Shamefully funny because it's true.

Glad its appreciated, of course its Cockney Rhyming Slang for "Yank" not meant to offend of course.
The only offense is on our side in that its a small country and you guys have far more Bimotas over there for sale and at better prices than in Good Old Blighty. Tricolor DB2 made just over 6K iin GBp over there just last week, a veritable bargain for sure. and Now Brand New SB8R's going for less than 2nd hand examples over here. Is the US economy so bad over there??

The media sure wants everyone to believe that our economy is terrible.

Fortunately, I have not noticed it. My stocks and mutual funds have been doing well, earlier this year I got a nice raise and promotion, our facility has been in full-swing with work and was having to ask people to rearrange vacation and floating holidays to be able to get all the testing done that they wanted to do. We've also expanded our faclity, absorbed another company into our group, and in general not shown much in the way of a recession. On the other hand, I have a friend who lost his job and hasn't found one in 3-1/2 years, his wife has had her hours cut, and they've been fighting foreclosure on their home in attempts to prevent being kicked to the street and becoming homeless.

The former owners of america (after the native tribes who walked in from russia) had a nick name for the dutch settlers in the north ( New York, formerly New Amsterdam) It was john cheese, as their diet was mainly cheese. John cheese in dutch is Yan kees, hence the southern states used it as a derisive term for all the northern state settlements. ( Dutch and English ). Wink

It is really interesting the extreme contrast between stories you can hear in the States. I work for General Electric, and the division I work in has been the main money-maker for the company through the recession, so I've been very, very fortunate. Additionally, I just finsihed a masters degree that the company paid for - which helped with the promotion. My friend thinks he finally found a potential job through a friend of his, so hopefully things will get better for them. His wife works for the Post Office, and they have been scaling back on things and have been threatening to stop Saturday deliveries. They can definitely use some good luck for a change.
