£2750 for a Bimota project? sounds good value to me if its all there.
Fairings and paintwork OK? Did the motor run? Did it have a motor? _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

I estimate a couple of grand at least would be required to make it presentable...........
How much to buy a presentable YB11 that is not cat D and on the register |

You ask the right questions Gary.......
The body work had been repaired to a high standard (one small crack reappeared)with the paint also being to a high standard. FZR headlight fitted. It does have a motor which sounds quite and strong. The gear box works faultlessly (for a Yamaha) all consistent with 9000 miles engine.
Another big plus is 3 months T & T
Bottom line is............
A budget entry into the religion that is Bimota.
Possibly can't loose your money as it should break for that.
BUT, it will always be "cat d" and it's not a SB
Anyone want more details or contact numbers etc, just ask because as you've probably gathered......."I'm out"

you never mentioned the "cat D" in your previous post - not that it would bother me.
However, a handlebar, some footrests, a pair of mudguards, an SPA clock unit like Bimotaniges (or a cheap digi unit) and and end can would surely leave change from £1000? Thats £3750 tops for a rideable, usable Bimota? Same price as that BB1 abomination on ebay _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

Your right of course Gary but..................
on top of your shopping list, for me at least, it would want a complete strip to check the frame properly and wheels and yolks etc, for true. I would be concerned this bike has had a front ender (possibly) , the forks may (or may not) want servicing and we know what a problem that could be, repair the cracked fairing, couple of new tyres, chain and sprockets may as well be changed at this stage and all the sundries that will be required for a rebuild.
Then and only then, would I trust this 170mph bike on the road.
For all that, I would budget 2K. It still wouldn't be pure Bimota because of the after market clocks, pegs (vast improvement) etc. and it would still be on the register and it still wouldn't be a SB
To sum up.......
A budget entry Bimota that is taxed and tested but is a rat and repaired by someone who's skills are UN-known, can be ridden immediately OR would take a LOT of effort and considerable amount of "hard earned" to get up to standard....

Pretty much all things covered by all, I always reckon (and know from experience) that anything sat and not run for 6/7 years or more, especially in our climate, needs all rubber things replacing, be it fuel hoses, rad hoses, possibly brake lines, brake claipers, master cylinders, clutch slave etc, keep these things dry and not used and they go like ceramic, little by little they all start to go, especially when you try using them again, they soon give up with the pressures of running. Evidently I'd not want to run on any tyres over 6 years old, bearings not greased before storage, blah, blah, not just the money but the time taken is the big part. Would have to be a labour of love for that money |
