2 questions -
1 - I've read in more than one article that Bimota fitted their own (or at least not standard) cams to the SB6. Does anybody know if this is true?
2 - How much power did the SB6 produce compared to the stock GSXR1100's 156 hp (137.8 rear wheel hp)? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851

I think we covered this on a thread a few years back? From what I remember the cams were exactly the same for the 6 and the gixxer... but then who know if every 6 was built the same way? If you do get different ones my bet would be the early ones got the improvement and the later ones stayed stock to save money. _________________ Pomps

I did a search and didn't really find a lot about cams. I did re-read evil's engine out thread though (marathon). Lots of really interesting info in that thread.
Cheers

Pompey seems to have the SB6 cams covered
Standard Suzuki cams. All as per Suzuki's workshop manual.
Sb6 produced high 130bhp at the back wheel but coupled with a stiff frame and light weight, the power to weight ratio was exeptional |

unless you plan on being on a drag strip then most money spent on increased bhp is pointless. Better to spend it on handling improvements and burning fuel practicing technique. _________________ Pomps

I reckon the SB6 did mid to late 120's at the back wheel. More power seems to come with the air box, the SB6R is a bit more meaty because it breathes better.
Really I'd say the engine will cost you relatively big bucks and the quick gains can be made in light wheels, especially if you have the Antera's on. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

The GSXR received new cams in 1995 that supposedly boosted the midrange 10%. My guess is that the SB6 had these a year earlier. |

They're the same profile as the 750W the lobes are slightly different centres so the valves are quite in the middle but they'll still work. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
