Been thinking a bit more about this Steve. I never did find a reason for the 'no power at all' fault that i had when i brought the bike home and took it off the ute (sorry, lorry ). Your no power at all would have been corrosion that builds up in the starter cables etc when the bike has been stood, continual use of putting charge through it will help "burn" off some of that corrosion. I've had it with the DB2 that sat for 8 years without a key being turned, all sorts of things start coming back to life, from dashboard lights, to warning lights, indicators etc. But I would clean off the main red battery cable to the starter motor etc and coat them for protection on the terminals to stop further corrosion build up |

Oily , you obviously have not met the right v-twin yet. They may be fragile, they may be emotional, but find the sweet spot and they will give you the ride off your life,
With an sb6 and a db4 Brian is obviously a MAN that likes to vary his ride |

Its the influence of those reliable running "H***AS" thats casting a curse on the others. I don't have any in my garage, or on the Drive, or ever had, and mine are all running fine. Probably because theres always something needing doing so I sort it, Running H......Still can't bring myself to say the word, can make you lazy as theres never much to do with them. HONDAS... there said it for ya. Might be something in your statement there Steve. My zxr has turned a wheel on the road since i bought the vtx, i sensed a bit of jealous from the kwak as soon as i brought the vtx home (over 4 years ago ), i think its quite a protest as i've had a few sessions trying to get the zxr sorted now. Hasn't been much spare to to work on the zxr since i've been a bimota owner but I do have to say though, any hondas that i've ever owned have been the height of reliable. Got to remember Brian that part of the fun of Bimota ownership is those long intimate nights spent together !!!
Oh and don't think you are alone in the bike running department. I have 3 Bim's and only one is currently running properly. And guess what , its the unreliable DB4 that is soldiering on without a hiccup, and its those bloody stupid Jap 4 cyl things that are causing me grief !!!!
I am hoping to change the running to non-running ratio though. |

You're dead right there Brian. My ZRX1100 is around the same age as my other bikes, 12 years old, and is lowish mileage, and it is often used, mostly by the girlie, but as she is "so reliable" it only ever gets pulled out of the garage to be used, never changed the battery, did the fluids but thats it, never not started, it has a "prime" lever on the tank, as well as a reserve setting and a fuel gauge, and just fires up straight away each time, chain has never needed adjusting, I put fuel in the tank and air in the tyres, never blown a fuse nor a bulb in the last 2 years/5,000miles, oh how Boring. Mind you thats a good thing on the odd time I put it on the paddock stands you can hear them groaning under the weight as she weighs 50% more than the DB4/2. It always throws me when I pull it out of the garage as I feel like Samson after a short back and sides haircut |
