SB6 wiring

Right gents, a bit of a helping hand needed.
Decided to get the old girl up up and running again and think the problem is the old alarm that's fitted.

Sorted most of the wires out just have a blue and a blue/red that I think go to the CDI and a white/red that I think is off the main fuse behind the headlight.

I also have an alarm wire that is attached to the brown/green on the the main connector that goes to the clocks


No idea what this is picking up or whether there should be something else replacing it.
Not helping that I cant find my wiring diagram, so pictures of these 3 areas would be a great help.

The only one I've got with the fairing off at the moment is a late one which uses different plugs and colours........



....and my wiring diagram is about as much use as a wart on a frogs arse as it's in black and white Crying or Very sad

I've got my sb6 half stripped at the moment so i'll take the front fairing off today and get some pics of mine if it'll help. Do you want me to trace any wires for you? Let me know what else you need

I imagine the cdi plugs will be standard but knowing Bimota
the wire colours may not be......................



.....going to take the seat unit and tank off (maybe today)but only to refill with coolant so shout up quick if you need anything from under there before it's all back together Wink

Hello Bimota enthusiast, I am new at this forum but I read the post al for a long time. I bought a SB6 in December last year and drove already 99km, and it was not a fine trip. I discovered many thinks that were not good. According to this forum its normal to discover mechanical and electrical inconveniences, so I was not surprised. Now my challenge is to make the bike in a good condition for this year, so I can drive the bike with a smile in staid with tears in my eyes. Next year I will completely dismantle the bike and build up again. But for now I want to drive it. one of the things I've done is to remove the alarm. My experience is that I've had many problems with alarm systems in the past. At this moment I am working on the temperature indicator to find out what the problem is why it is in red while the cooling system seems to work well. (There is no overheating while the indicator shows as overheating) The problem with the fuel sender I have temporarily solved.

So vort28, if you have any questions or if you want more pictures feel free to ask. The fairing is already removed.
A few pictures, I hope you find them useful.

Looks like you will be the most useful to vort as yours looks like the early sb6(?) and you've got it in bit's where as mines nearly back together again

I'd just cut the alarm out ... think of the weight saving Laughing

right then.

i was guessing that the blue/red wire that goes into the alarm should replace the orange wire that comes out of the alarm and is soldiered onto the connector with the blue wire ?


Then I have the main fuse where I am guessing the white/red wire that goes into the alarm should replace the black wire that comes out of the alarm( the one with the blue wrap on it)




and then lastly I have this orange wire that goes into the main plug going towards the clockes and is soldiered on to the brown/green wire


Now cant seem to find any other wires that are cut, so I guess this orange wire can just be removed, but any ideas what this brown/green wire is for or if you have another connected to it.

Vort,

it seems that the colour of the wiring is not equal to my sb6. My sb6 is from 95 with frame number 824. I do not know if that makes a difference
I see, for my sb6 is that the colours that on one side of the connector, for example, blue, and on the other side, the same wire is yellow ....Confused ..... there is no logic.
I'm guessing that the Bimota technicians are colour blind.
But it seems to be working.
Another picture and a drawing of my sb6. hope you find them useful.

Had it been read on the forum that the lights were not very good.
It is already on my list to replace but not at a high priority.
I expect not to drive a lot at night. I can Always grab my other bike.

That's interesting as mine is a 95 also, and would appear to be completely different colours , does'nt look like I am going to have a easy time of this then.
One thing does look certain though, the blue/red that is by the cdi unit does not attach to any of the wires there, just got to work out where it should be ??

It looks that the red / blue wire is slightly thicker than the other wires to the CDI unit. That is of course what I can see from the picture. Is that thru Question

It is a thicker wire, but cant see where it is cut off from.
Whose bloody stupid idea was it to only put black and orange wires on an alarm ?? Great if they work, crap when they go AWOL.

Where is de wire going to that is marked with the red arrow?



Das it comes out of the same wiring harness as that is going to the CDI?
