Hi Nigel
thanks - thats 17 years of its life accounted for!
Good to meet you and see your diverse collection of cars and bikes. And if you ever feel like taking that Ohlins shock off the YB8 and selling it to me................ _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

That looks great so far, should be a really interesting rebuild. Are you looking at a period engine or thinking about what modern stuff might fit? Look forward to checking in on this rebuild for sure. |

Thanks!!
All Ducati engines from the 851/888 era right up to the last of the 1198's will fit, so I have a good choice! I've picked up a low mileage 999S engine complete with injectors, swingarm and wiring harness for a good price so I am going with that at the moment. My vision is to run it with a one-off alloy fuel tank, 999 monoposto seat unit / exhaust system and a Bimota DB6 Delirio headlamp/fairing unit. Not original, but at least it will be usable and I can spend the intervening years searching for standard parts! _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

Thats a good plan. I had a 999s when I lived in LA ( my avatar)and its a fantastic engine. I might have a few bits still, I'll have a look. At least a rolling chassis will be easier to store. You doing the work old fella? _________________ Pomps

Yeah looking forward to the future tesi resto thread. They sure are some nice looking bits there. It will be nice to get it on the road, then will be a work in progress for a few years i guess getting it back to somewhere near original. I'll do what I can, and farm other jobs out to people better skilled than me where necessary. Just readying a few bikes for sale to fund it........ _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

Nice one Gary, certainly looks better together than in a pile. That seems to be one monsterous plastic tank !!
I take it you saw it assembled before you bought ?
With Steve ' ebay scanner' on board you should have the bits in no time at all.
On another note, if you want to contact George and get the rest of the stuff to Florida in the next week I can get it shipped back for you. |

cheers Stuart!
I have contacted George and he is getting back to me. Will be in touch if anything needs shipping.
I only saw it as a pile of bits, as Steve posted on the forum - just took a chance, really!
There is a lot of serious work to be done before it ever turns a wheel in anger again.

never - the Mantra is a keeper - love it to bits! Done more miles on that bike in 1 month than you will cover in the next 5 years!

Where's R2D2 when you need him |
Brigitte calls an RC30, R2D2.
and she thinks an NR 750 resembles a fridge.
very high standards that girl.
Pompey, PS- sounds like there's another couple of Bim riders on for the tea party- both not on here though
I hope you're still planning- you could have someone to ride with.
