Hello Macx,
in Georgio Sarti's book he describes the SB2/80 as having the 'the same frame as the SB2' and that 'an SB2/80 with a Suzuki 1000 engine recorded a top speed of 232kph..', so it sounds like it's possible maybe with some mods. Some SB2 differences with the SB3 included the subframe on the latter and that the SB2 had sockets for the seat-tank unit prongs behind the steering head, and by the shock absorber, along with brackets for the rubber ties holding the back of the bodywork.
Good Luck,

Gents,
I did a big drive yesterday ( 850Kms) and picked up the SB2. The bike is more amazing than I previously thought. The glass work shaping on the tank is fantastic, as is the work on the frame. For 1978 this is so good.
I will post some photos later.
At this point I would like to get some original photos of this model for it's restoration. This bike is the second series with the horizontally spilt fairing.
Are there any Australian owners on this forum?
Importers are registered thieves as are the customs lot! Regards

The body work is quite good but the engine will need a complete overhaul at which time I will get it painted again. The wheels need repainting in the correct colour and the brakes are needing work as well. When I get time I will take the bodywork off and post a few shots of the good, the bad and the ugly. The frame hugs the motor so tightly that the outer plug leads go around the frame to get to the outer plugs. It is all very interesting when you compare with other bikes selling at the time.

That sounds like Bimota they sacrifice everything to get the frame as right as possible and therefore make the bike small _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
