Seen at Colin Appleyard's showroom at Leeds today, the first of the bikes provided by new importer Barras. Bike is on loan for Appleyard's to assess if they want to proceed as a dealer - the rep who delivered it didn't even leave the key for it - trustworthy, eh?! I have my name down to take it to the local bike caff later this year.
pant-wetting lusciousness...........
wrong clocks Steve -
but I have some info that may be of help - see pm.
Sales manager Roger and his team are really enthusiastic about the possibilty of selling Bimota's from their showroom, but the final decision rests with higher management, so lets hope they give it the thumbs up!
Bimota open day in Leeds soon!!! _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

What, North of the border Are they MAD.
So , if I bring mine, will they let me ride theirs ??.
Think that could be quite a PR stunt. Bimota's New and Old.
Why is the new Importer not on the forum ?? |

a big corporate machine has more financial clout, marketing experience and potential dealers to actually promote the marque. Put a Bimota in several well-chosen dealerships countrywide and the brand gets promoted in the best possible way - potential punters country-wide will actually be able to go and see the bikes and (if the reps leave the keys), have a test ride too.
How many of todays bikers even know that Bimota exist? If they don't get to see them, they probably never will. Pinch a few potential Ducatisti and who knows?
I have NEVER seen a modern (post 2005) Bimota at our local caff, and that place draws just about every brand of bike known - MV's - Desmosedici's - NR750's are frequent visitors - but never a modern Bimota.
Hence my offer to ride the DB8 there one day........... _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.

I agree with all your points Geekay, I just think for those very reasons they wont be seen on this site unless advised to... I'm not sure I want new owners, I want less buyers for the few older bikes left _________________ Pomps

Look a bit stupid announcing themselves on the Bimota Forum when they only have 1 bike in the UK, and thats not for sale (yet)! Imagine if they did, and several prospective buyers asked for a test ride / dealer information - what can they tell them at this moment in time?
I'm sure that if / when they have established a (albeit small) network of dealers, they will announce themselves to the biking press and, quite possibly, interested Bimotisti elsewhere. I will ensure that any dealer local to me will have our forum address and invite them to introduce themselves.
As for not wanting new owners - where did you get your DB5 from? Not a great choice of bikes here in the UK, is there? Like to guess why? Plenty for sale in Italy and Germany - the new Bims of today are our "classics" in years to come.
You should be grateful that someone is trying to raise the awareness of our beloved product. I am sorely tempted to sell every bike I own and buy that DB8 - its bloody gorgeous!! _________________ Bimota SB6 and Benelli TNT 899S road bikes.
