Hmmmm, at the 900 km old mark my brand new Tesi 3D stopped idling. I read the owner's manual and it said to adjust the throttle cable play. I did that and the bike started idling again for a short test ride. Then the next day it stopped idling altogether.
I took off both plugs - they looked fine. I wiped the points with a clean rag and checked the separation at 0.6-0.7mm. Re-installed the plugs and it idles OK but at 1200 rpm; faster than the usual 1000 rpm idle. Checked the wiring for shorts or heat damage as per suggestions in this thread but found nothing untoward. Is it a spark plug problem? Is it a fuel problem (ie should I use 98 octane rating instead of 92 and so on?).
I'm going to change the oil tomorrow. Does anyone know how I can reset the service 'spanner' icon in the instrument panel display? Thank you.
Disappointed an expensive bike like this plays up at the 900 km mark! |

I'd be getting on to the Bimota dealer if it were me. Is it still under warranty? Alan from FX Powersport in Melbourne (the Aus dealer) seems very helpful. Let us know how you get on. _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

Also... how old is the fuel? Could it have gone off? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |
