Nooo, do it properly and use a shorter bolt Wink
Or do as I would and whack it in the lathe and turn a couple of threads off

Just on using the sb6 - last time I took it to Assen it broke down!!! The cush drive between the engine and alternator ringed out. Had to take it trailered back. And there was me thinking the gsxr1100 engine was built-proof. Still managed to fix it without taking out the engine.

Mine went the same ,simon at bhp motorcycles does a replacement shaft that does away with the cush drive ,it only seems to happen on the gsxr engine when fitted to the bim .

We discussed this at length and one of the possible (probable) reasons is the stupid sheet of rubber wrapped around everything causing a overheating situation for the alternator due to a lack of fresh air circulating.
The new bush from Suzuki is an uprated version and supersedes the original which would indicate that Suzuki are aware of the problem.

...Been thinking about this replacement shaft.......
Excellent idea for "doing away" with the troublesome cush drive.
...But then I start thinking....why did Suzuki San go to all that trouble and expense designing and producing said cush drives................?
They even used the same cush drive, as Pompey will testify, on the RF 900.
Also on the 1200 Blandit and I'm sure many others.
I like the idea of a solid shaft but not sure it's a good thing long term.

No, that's definitely a Mk11 bob and the mount plates are totally different and not interchangeable Wink

Nice colour the SB6 and looks good with those wheels.

I think the over grown grass is a sign of how much my biikes get used these days. As for cutting the grass with the kawaker-I'd have to get it started first! Funnily enough the best bike is the 675. I was surprised how good modern bikes were until I bought that thing. But nothing to fix on it so where's the fun in that??
