Having admired Bimotas since my mate bought a brand new KB2 for half price in 1984 I've always wanted one (ignoring some appalling bodywork designs that is).
So..........bullet bitten I have bought an SB6 Mk2.
It's a none runner and is still currently advertised on ebay (as of posting date). described as A1, more like 'good'.
I haven't picked it up yet but hope to get it next weekend.
6500 miles, not used since 2008, needs a damn good clean and carbs off, fluids changed etc etc.
The seller has original paperwork, brochures, and some history.
I'll post pics when I can.
Pretty competent mechanical / electrical but less so electronics.
Any advice?? _________________ So many bends, not enough free time (or decent weather) |

Cool - what colour is it ?
I reckon clean the carbs, new liquids (semi synth oil) new batteries and plugs it should fire up.
If you're into mechanics then you'll love the bike .... very frustrating sometimes but worth it for when it runs right.
Don't use irridium plugs. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase. Your sb6 looked in pretty good nick in the photo's on ebay. My sb6 had sat unused for 3 years (at least) before i bought it. Wasn't too much to do.. a few minor electrical issues and the dreaded clutch drag issue. Since flushing and changing the oil and plenty of use the clutch has now come good. I'll still pull it down at some time and change the clutch after seeing pictures of one of oily's sb6 clutch's.
Enjoy mate!
Cheers,

Welcome to our wonderful world .
In a few months you will be wondering why it took you so long
OR
' What the hell was I think of when I bought this' .
The SB6 is a good place to start and will reward you for effort/time invested but be warned , there will be others , there is no escaping it Bimota's ALWAYS garage in groups. |

When you come to change the oil fill it throught the crank case breather at the top of the engine.
You can use the breather hose with a funnel in - the orange ones with the wobbly extension are good. Allow the oil time to settle and clean the pipe after. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

...But only if you've got the tank/seat unit etc. off whilst doing the oil change.
That's probably less than 50% of my oil changes _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)
