Cleaned out the carbs, suprisingly clean for a bike that hasn't run for 5 years. New plugs, push button, vrooom! Happy bunny.
Need to warm her up and change oil / filter. Good clean, new coolant etc then ready for an MOT. Shame I don't have much time, off to the V twin rally at Fordingbridge this weekend.
That fairing is a bu**er to get off, is it as bad going back on?
Very Happy

Wow, that video makes it look soooooo easy !!!!!!

Done the oil change. Some guerilla had done the filter up murder tight had to resort to the old 'screwdriver through the filter' bodge to remove it.

Brake / clutch fluid and coolant next.

Bike looks to be totally unmolested. Thought the right fairing bracket was bent as sitting on the bike the fairing didn't look symetrical. Was relieved to find it was actually the weird bolt up top frame mount that was the issue. Not seen a frame mount like that before!

Can't wait to get it on the road, hope I'm not disappointed, looks amazin!

When I put the fairing back on I fold the two mirror brackets in but when you do the main bolts up just tag them to begin with, then do the mirrors, bottom cam locks up and then torque the fairing bolts. Finally do the mirror brackets ... you'll jump when you short the spanner on the + battery terminal.

I had sussed that pushing the mirror / fairing brackets in would give a bit more room before reading the replies, defo helps. Getting the fairing round the front wheel / enginge and frame without marking the paint etc is a bit of a delicate operation! Still it's all back together now.
All fluids changed etc so took it for a slow ride up the road. Is it just me or is the gearbox almost impossible to find neutral. I've only tried 1,2 and 3 gears at slow speed but the gearbox seems.......er.........not the smoothest! Clutch isn't dragging so not that. Is it just my bike?

Meant to say, thanks all for the replies. Cheers gents. Smile

No, it's just you Laughing
SB6 is prone to leaking clutch slave cylinder, especially if it's been stood, which might explain your problem .
Thing is....to get at the slave cylinder, guess what, you've got to drop the motor Crying or Very sad

You haven't bled the clutch yet - that will help, you'll need the fairing off or half dropped and the seat unit off too. If you don't have one then a non-return bleed nipple will help a lot.

Just come back from my first ride on the SB6. I 'm going to enjoy this!

Light neutral handling, feels like it's on rails, even with a front tyre that looks like it's spent most of it'e life very under inflated. Good suspension, had a play static as it seemed very soft and wasn't anywhere near the 'book' settings.

Engine pulls happily from tick over in top with a real surge from approx 5K rpm. Not taken it over 8K yet!

Brakes are improving with use, probably burning off the cleaner I've been using to get the bike clean.

One down side, seat is like a plank of wood and I don't have an overly padded arse! Laughing
