I have a possible opportunity to get my hands on 1998 Bimota SB6R but the bike isn't perfect. There are some scratches and cracks in the plastic. Also the original dash has been replaced with a Koso unit. All in all the bike looks a little below average and would defintely need some TLC. The worst part is not knowing the exact mileage. Because the origional dash has been replaced with Koso, the actual mileage is unknown. In addition to having an aftermarket Speedo fitted, it also looks a bit out place. In other words if I get my hands on this bike then I would have to fabricate a better looking dashboard plate, fix all the bodywork and respray it and buff and polish the frame.
So, my question is to all of you who have gone thru restoring/fixing SB6R. What is something like this is worth. Considering there are some SB6R being offered for sale for $6000.
I really don't need another bike but if the price is right I think it would be a shame to pass up such an opportunity. So, please fire away your opinions and what I have to look for in this bike. I cannot see the bike in person but see pics and I am 1000% certain on the honesty of description
I am attaching some pics for your review

Lock wire on the handle bar grips ... hmmm.
Do you want this a keeper or are you trying to turn a profit ? It's as you say a bit rough around the edges. I know the Koso dash is something that gets done but I thought the white faced ones were more race spec
Not to sure about the amount to pay but I'd only buy it if you can do the body repairs yourself or you know somebody in the business, it will work out cheaper in the long run to buy a better condition one. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Thank you for your responses. By the way wire on the grips is often done with a new grips and for track days _________________ 2016 Suzuki GSXR750 TRACK BIKE

I saw one similar to that on Ebay (I think) over here in the US go for around $4700 several months ago. The Bimota market and prices have been fairly low the last year or two.
This one had an asking price of $6000 - http://www.bimotaforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2069
Personally, the bike you are looking at, I wouldn't pay more than $4500 for it, would buy it to ride the wheels off of, and wouldn't waste the money to restore it. With the cosmetic damage, you won't be afraid to dog the piss out of it and run a higher risk of wrecking it.....and you'll have more fun with it. _________________ Look for my books...
