anyone have any ride height, fork length info??
have always felt mine doesn't turn in as well as it could (should), stable as a rock once laid down but doesn't inspire confidence at first..........
only got it last year and just put it down to jumping off other stuff that is either old enough to be its grandad or track orientated gixxers

spent a bit more time this year and still the same so was thinking of jacking the rear (measures exactly as manual for preload, etc.) or dropping the forks thro the yokes (they currently sit flush)
or are they all like that sir?? Laughing

120/70 front ?
I think the standard is a 120/60 so maybe there could be a reason ... or not

What brand tyres you running? Profile makes a big difference, especially if its confidence your after, tyre pressures etc?

tyres might make sense.......120/70 front & 190/50 rear Pirelli Dragon S/corsa's

tyres are obviously older style and are due to get replaced over the winter (bike has done minimal mileage so tyres are not squared just simply out of date)

its not lacking confidence, more that it doesn't initially "tip in" as you might (me anyhows) expect

I'm confused now as you do say initially they don't inspire confidence, but I know what you mean about "initially" not a big fan of Pirellis, have them on the DB2, and I've now reverted to Michelins, Bridgestones etc. Power Pures and Power Sports have a different profile and are more V shaped than rounded profile like Pirellis. Take a look round a garage or a bike dealer and you will see the difference in Profile, that V makes tipping in easier and a broader patch when on the lean. But then its all down to personal preference and I'm sure everyone has their favourites, just letting you know mine thats all. Evidently keep the pressure up also. Don't go off the handbooks recommendations, as these are for tyres at the time, may well say 32/36 front and rear. Go off the Tyre manufacturers recommendations on their websites for the specific tyres, usually 36/40. Evidently if track orientated, these drop down somewhat, but thats not me anyhow. May make a noticeable difference in correcting the profile. Minimum every 4 weeks I check the pressures, its amazing what they lose if stood for a while

That 190/50 is a pretty flat profile and it's probably working against you.

sorry 2Bims my explanation isn't as good as it could be.......

not so much that its nervous or anything like that, just that i guess it seems reluctant to turn compared to the sports stuff i have used previously (albeit on track where you can be heavily committed)

will get some tyres for next "summer" anyhows and go from there...........

tyres listed in h/book as 120/70 front and option of 180/55 or 190/50 rear

What does it list as tyre pressures? Thats normally the big difference over the last 10-15 years.

The 180 is on a 5.5" rim and the 190's are 0n a 6".

FWIW- I use a 180 on my Aprilia's 6" rim. Going to do the same on the SB6.

My 6R has a 5.5 antera on the rear with a 180 tyre. practically falls into corners Wink
Bear in mind that it's missing 600lbs of ugly fairing which obviously changes the handling considerably Shocked

Nice schematics Cbar, rushing out the garage now to see what I have, and there seems a big difference in the 50's to 55's that should be noticeable on the road

I get part worns because I don't really do that much milage

Jeeso, thats some old numbers for tyres, may have thought 32/36 would be in there, but I use 36/38 or 40, as recomended by the tyre manufacturers for specific tyres, check yours on suppliers websites and i hope you're not running 30/33 as it would make a big difference, flatter profiles than at the higher inflation
