found this on line
http://www.motor-talk.de/marktplatz/bimota-sb6-t2772563.html
has a split fairing and some extra stickers and red mirrors but its pretty close
Mine's is not a repaint job, its just too good and has a few chips so they must have made a few red ones
Nice to hear it has the light wheels they wont make it slower?
Just to check the speedo cable Ducati or Suzuki ? _________________ Hursty from kiwi land |

Nice one….I like the reverse paint scheme.
I didn’t know that they had this paint scheme…
Only… I’m not sure if red is faster ….. _________________ vince

Yamaha speedo cable - the Suzuki will snap again - use one from a later Yam.
The colours are standard for a Mk2 the wheels were probably left over from a mk1, they used Marchesini's before the Antera
Here's a pic of mine before I owned it and before the resprays
As for getting hot ... how about a race spec heatshield

Yours sure looks nice in the pics, why the respray?
Any year or model Yamaha cable to ask for ? or i'm just going to get the here comes another one look....
If anything the one on it is a little short, it broke because my bike has no locating lug for the speedo drive in the fork so it the front wheel has been out and its not positioned correctly it puts extra load on it.
Anyone else have this?
The heat shield looks trick how many English $$$$$ _________________ Hursty from kiwi land |

The modern Yamaha speedo cables are generic ... ask for one to fit a ThunderAce, a pattern one is fine.
Yup the speedo drive is like that, you'll get used to checking it when you put the wheel in the quick release bits.
Drop me a PM about the shield with your address on and I'll find out about the postage.
Now might be a good time to think about carbon frame guards and rear master cylinder heal gaurds ... all carbon, just ask Oily _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

G'day Hursty. Welcome to the forum mate. Sweet looking sb6 you scored there. Did you buy it in NZ or have it imported. Nice to have another bloke on here from the bottom of the planet... Don't give the northerners too much info about the roads down this way or they'll all be imigrating. Although it would be nice to have a few bims around to have a bim get together. Don't know about where you are but very few (like 0) around my parts.
Plenty of good info on here and everyone always got lots of good advice.
Cheers,

Hi Brian the roads over here aren't that good they are mostly all twisty and empty and the scenery's all that Lord of the rings stuff..... wish I could take the S6 out on a busy motorway (in the rain and cold) but alas its winter and down to 15c we even have some clouds today
The bike was bought in by a dealer Motomart in Wellington they have bought in about 6 so far from Japan which is a good place to find them as they are hardly ridden only 14,000k in 15 years and I doubt its ever been pushed hard. _________________ Hursty from kiwi land |

Roads that are "twisty" and "empty" music to me ears.
Agree that sometimes NZ roads can throw up the odd gravel stretch
when you least expect it, but when the surface is good/reasonable NZ
is biking heaven.
Got the chance to tour most of the North island, even with a bit of rain, absolutely superb.
Took the 35 round the Coramandel down to Gisborne, then found the road
of my dreams , the 2 down to Napier, empty, sweeping curves,180 bends, the occasional straight, nearly 100 miles of sheer beauty.
The only downside would be if you cooked it on one of the corners, virtually no one around to help you.
Found two amazing biking/car museums to, one in Palmerston North, with quite a number of BRITTON racing bikes, and one outside Wellington, the Southward Car museum with over 125 bikes on display
On top of this ,outside Aukland, there is the Pukekohe Racecourse Motor Racing Circuit, where for some strange reason every year , ex -GP racers like to go and still try their hand, awesome
I am definately going back someday !!!! _________________ Marty

Hi Marty
I know what you mean, I spent 20 years as a sales rep doing that loop every 4-6 weeks in a car last time I did it was a couple of years ago and got clocked at 153ks (had been at 210 ) lost the car for 28 days, the job,and the license for seven months but after 20 years of thrashing it around the island odds are your going to get pinged sooner or later, now I have the S6 I have trouble riding the roads I know so well in a car on a bike. but a least I know whats normally around the corner.
Can't wait to get back down their on the S6 and enjoy them on a bike again.... But if you want a real good ride the west coast and central parts of the South Island are the best if you ever get the chance to do it sometime between Nov - March do it its awesome. _________________ Hursty from kiwi land |

Hi there, i took this bike for a test ride just before it was sold, Todd said that it wouldnt last long on the shop floor and he was right. He had two other Bimotas in the same container and they sold within 3-4 days, the crashed 6R i have seen at Manfield being used as a track bike in the clubmans class and the other 6R i think is still down here in Wellington. Its good to see its gone to a good home with someone who will appreciate it. |
