Looks great pomps. I've never polished a frame but have been thinking about polishing the frame in my db4. The frame and swing arm have a few marks and stains on them and i think the only way to fix it would be to polish the whole lot.
Can you give us (me ) a basic run down on the procedure? _________________ '99 DB4 #104, '96 SB6 #1165, '94 DB2 J #652, '99 DB4 #088, '08 VTX1800, '93 ZXR750R M1, '95 ZXR750, '95 ZXR750 Race Bike, '94 CBR400rr NC29 Race Bike, '94 CB250, '49 BSA C10 250, '61 BSA A10 650, '89 ZXR750, '91 Ducati 851 |

This one was already polished and needed going over. Once done it was fairly easy with polishing mop kit and high speed drill. To get the original finish to the shiny stage you have to use very course mops and work thru the stages. I did it on a blade and it took some time. I would take the swing arm and rear sets of and take them to a pro polishing company, they will do a much better job to start and its cheaper then you think. The frame rail is easier for you to do or get a carbon cover. Good luck _________________ Pomps

Ye that Alu Belgon is good kit.
Pollishing the frame from scratch should be OK as its nice smooth extruded alloy not horrid cating etc.
Start with some emmery, etc to remove original finish.
The a sissle mop and brown soap.
Then a stitch mop and blue soap
Then a floppy mop and more blue soap.
I recon a frame should take no more than 8 to 12 hours to polish with a kit. Worst I have done are GSXR Slingshot wheels. about 20 hours each.
Weather you can polish the exposed frame rails with the motor and suspension attached is another thing. _________________ Si...

What type of heat foil did you use ? A friend has offered me some Dynamat
Car stuff do you think it would do the job?

I tried to polish the swingarm from scratch ... that anodising is hared than nails !!!
Paint stripper don't touch it .... and neither does a sander with course paper _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

To Remove Anodizing you want to use Oven Cleaner.
Or reverse the polarity on the anodizing bath.
But seriously I have stripped back some coloursd anodized parts using Oven Cleaner. Works a treat. _________________ Si...

Its a Mk1 Vince, standard forks that at some stage had the upper tubes done in gold, very nice to... I got the heat foil from ebay, it seemed expensive but I have been told it was a bargain by those who know better? I'll find the link for you, it was easy to use and super strong sticky back. _________________ Pomps
