OK Guys i know its rude to ask for help on a first post, but here it is. Went to Helmsley (local meet) and had two false neutrals on way( or so i thought) Parked up had a nosy about got back on sb6 got half a mile and no drive. Front spocket nut loose. So does anyone know if there is a locking washer or is the nut supposed to be self locking. PS i think its a MK1 |

There's a locking bolt that screws into the end of the shaft. I'll see if I can find a picture
EC had this very same problem, sure he'll be along shortly. _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Lucky man. I lost my nut completely (settle down at the back).
As Oily said there should be a M6 bolt with a bigish washer
Reaching the main nut isn't so easy, from memory it's a 32mm, you can use a spanner but it's not easy to do the final torque. If you use a socket you need to cut it to half depth to get it onto the nut ... or you might try a ratchet spanner (silverline make one)

Lucky Man? Get this, new sprocket came today so straight in garage and sprocket on. Started to look around for a washer and 6mm bolt and in the bits i picked up after removing fairing there it was. A 6mm bolt ( threads well worn) with concave spring washer. It must have sat in the fairing until i removed it.
I need to try that lottery thing |

Just use the Blue stuff it allows you undo it again and you only need it on the last few mm of the thread. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

Blue Locktite works well, but you must always remember to have the threads of both the shaft and nut clean, degreased, and dry for it to work correctly. The red is more permanent and required heat to break it loose. I use a lot of the blue Locktite.
IIRC, when using Locktite with aluminum (not in the situation of the front sprocket), I've had the blue fail to work very well and comes loose after a while. I was told by a buddy of mine that Locktite has one specifically for aluminum. I think it is green, but don't remember. I can never remember the actual numbers of the different products. The blue is something like 242? (I could look it up, but I'm lazy ). _________________ Look for my books...

You'd best ask oily that one - I'm sure they spaced it, the back tyre's wider see _________________ Don't read everything you believe |
