|
|
So I have stripped of the original bodywork including the 916 front end. Next step is mocking up the new bodywork which will not be the normal DB2 stuff. Still some cutting to do but gives you an idea. There is a full body going on, its a Ducati TT2 tail and front fairing. A replica db2 tank cover which I am slaughtering to fit...

I think its going to work fine. I have a 2 into 1 exhaust for it coming out of the lower left side which will help the look. Once its all fitted the whole lot will be stripped including engine for a make over. Might have to give that to someone to do for me at a good rate. Now who could that be? _________________ Pomps

Or shall I do a white red and green variant of the original Ducati?

I guess the difference is minimal but a lot of hours to trim and fix...
db2 tank and tail by pompstar, on Flickr
The seat will flow forward into the recess around the base of the back of the tank so will tidy that part up nicely. Start on the body and nose tomorrow which will be a very tight and need some extra patient attitude. Not good at patient! _________________ Pomps

Better day today. Finally managed to man handle the exhausts off! replaced with a 900 ss 2 into 1 system which looks great but sticks out just ebough to stop the side stand from fully going up. Doh. The tt fairing is going to need a lot of trimming but should be ok. Dremmel at the ready for tomorrow, pics to come ... _________________ Pomps

This paint scheme looks great. Whats your goal for finished project Pomps? modern take on a cafe racer? |

Not really cafe racer, it will have the full fairing and the basic bike is staying the same. I still have the original seat and exhausts etc . i just like to play with ideas to make it look authentic of an earlier period. the frame and shock is all rusted, no paint on engine so the whole thing will come apart for a powder coat , new bearings, bolts etc. _________________ Pomps

I like the white/red/gold/black livery of the yb works racers a lot. Just a matter of taste, of course _________________ Track riding on a Bimota: FUN! |

The final fit looks like this:

I think this is going to be my favourite... _________________ Pomps
