Well here is a question for you SB "experts". Do you know what glue/filler they company used to join the frame to the aluminium swinging arm hanger on the SB4??? Having taken the bike to pieces the tubes are bolted to the aluminium carrier but they have glue/filler in the joint as well. It is a grey colour and looks like hardened 3 bond or plastic padding but I guess it pre-dates either being 1984. |

Same glue as they use on the Benelli Tornado

Bit of research try
http://www.theadhesiveworld.com/epoxyadhesive.html
Grade- AW/TFIX EPOXY PR ( Two Component Epoxy Adhesive)
DESCRIPTION: AW/TFIX EPOXY PRis a two component super strong epoxy glue, bonds almost anything to anything from miniature electronic parts to hefty structural components. This multipurpose two component system comprises of Epoxy resin and Polyamide Hardner which need to be mixed well in the recommended ratio to achieve optimum results.
AW/TFIX EPOXY PRis a thermosetting system which means, that the resin and the hardner on mixing cure by polymerization to a rigid thermoset mass which on heating might soften but shall not melt and flow. This system does not include unstable matter such as solvent or water and hence there is negligible shrinkage on curing. AW/TFIX EPOXY PR which is internally flexible system, provides sturdy joints with outstanding low creep properties make it ideal for structural bonding applications. AW/TFIX EPOXY PRis an outstanding tool in Do it your self Kit.
APPLICATIONS: AW/TFIX EPOXY PRis a multipurpose structural adhesive finding extensive applications in nearly all the major industries. These applications can be found in OEM or Maintenance. This system is an essential tool for engineers and proved its value in numerous applications in:
•Automobile
•Electronics
•Electrical
•Railway
•Aeronautical
•Construction and
•Engineering industry _________________ Marty

I know that in the aircraft structure sometimes glue / filler is used to prevent contact corrosion.
That’s normally don when two dissimilar metals are in contact. It’s because of the electro-potential voltage of the metals.
In your case I would say it’s more for prevent contact corrosion than structural strength.
If you want I can look for the best glue to use in your case. _________________ vince

Hi Vince
That would be great. There is a decent bit of a gap around the aluminium joint area so it isobviously a filler as well as adhesive . Ive followed up the other few leads but still waiting for that elusive response from Bimota!!! |

Yes they are truly shocking in their support - I don't know why as I've been to the factory twice and they were great. Even tried to sell me a load of crated sb8 engines! |
