These are the petrol taps that I have fit to the SB6 due to the vacuum tap sticking, it also allows switching off the petrol and letting the bike run a wee while before draining the carbs for winter.
They have little lugs on the back to which I have added a strip of stainless to join them together, makes switching on and off a little easier.
Regards.

I can understand why you did it but it looks a bit untidy to me. Maybe using 1 tap and then splitting the pipe further back. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I toyed with the idea of a splitter line but was unsure of the flow rate of the original tap which had its internals intact - Pingle high flow taps are used by the drag racing boys as the big Suzukis are apparently thirsty beasts when given the berries so erred on the side of safety.
The bit of steel work in view is clearer on an earlier post as it is the garage apprentices home made seat using steel and an old crawler board to allow the bike to be run on a dyno - the dyno operator was a braver man than me perching his arse on the exhaust pipes then giving it rock all.
I bought the taps from the local one man independent who let me look through the trade catalogue and pick out what I wanted, about a tenner each from memory and delivered the next day.
As stated before it allows the float bowls to be partially drained when getting ready for hibernation, I also use a little funnel to "charge" the carbs with fresh petrol in the spring. |

Ahh, missed that one, great ideas... luckily I have not had to dyno any of my 6's. When they went they went strong and linear... _________________ Pomps

My latest 6 project has got to the "need a petcock" stage so knowing that the originals are "unobtanium", What alternatives are you guys using and to what degree of success? _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

It's an alloy spigot held with 2 bolts. It has a left-hand thread and the nut for tap wears it out because it's steel. _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

This ere be the offending article Daz......
...The issue being.....it's a bitch to get too so a manual tap is awkward for a forgetful git like me. a vacuum tap is a much better thing but I guess your going to suggest a Pingle _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

No mate, was actually thinking of the vac petcock as used by the GSXR SRAD's on the carb'd 600's and 750's. I have a lot to do with the SRAD, so would make an ideal donor. What is the distance between the two mounting holes, centre to centre? The square section looks amazingly similar, and I can get service kits for the SRAD type petcock from one of my suppliers, if they are interchangeable, it may just be an answer to a question. It may be totally different of course, and I'm barking up the wrong tree............................................... _________________ It's mine and I'll wash it as fast as I like! |

Well that's a bit oddball......
I make the centre to centre distance of the mounting holes 33mm
The centre hole for the strainer is 10mm (can be adjusted with a big drill ) and the "head room" for the strainer is also 33mm but that's of no major issue as this too could be "adjusted" _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

If the SRAD tap dosent bolt sraight on then it might be easier to have a spigot made up.
You might have to change over the filter gauze, the Bimota one is quite short _________________ Don't read everything you believe |

I'll have a look and measure tomorrow then, see what I can find. Maybe worth a meet up if it's viable to try it if you've got the petcock off the tank and spare.
