If you get chance, what are the distances between the 4 screws that hold the petcock together? The SRAD petcock is offset to one side from the inlet, so that may cause clearance/fitting issues, but I'm hopeful that the service kits I have may be the ticket to refurbing the Bimota petcock. The SRAD ones are getting passed their best now, with the heat too from the motor below it all the time, they do get perished. The diaphram kit sorts that in one hit and away they go again. The SRAD doesn't have a gauze filter as in the Bimota unit, so that may have to be improvised, as the SRAD uses a low pressure electric pump, the gauze is a larger item located on the inlet to the pump. The petcock on the SRAD is bolted to the outlet of the pump.
The SRAD petcock screws are approx 28 mm between centres for the 4 that hold the petcock together.

Sorry to pi55 on your chips Daz but the srad diaphragm does not fit the SB6 tap.
My local dealer tried that on mainstones bike before they sold it to him.
The metal bit in the middle of the diaphragm is too greater diameter to slot into the tap housing by quite a bit.
So, are we discounting the srad tap as a bolt on alternative? _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

OK, the repair kit is ruled out, but will still have a measure up this morning to see if the whole petcock will go on. Just unsure of what room there is around the petcock when installed on the Bimota tank, and all bodywork fitted.

Hia again guys. OK, just popped the tank off a SRAD to measure and photograph the petcock, take a look and see if you think it will fit. It is 33mm between the centres of the mounting bolts, so that seems good to go, my question is whether the offset of the petcock will cause any fitment/clearance issues.
Let me know what you think,

..Tap arrived...thanks Daz...
...bolted to tank ok too.....
...loads of room above the shock and around the air box...
...just need to try the body work...and I've got just the thing...
...just the last bit of the jigsaw......will it...won't it?...
...well I'll be......
it fit's
...now, there's not a shed load of room and this is Mk1 bodywork which does have small differences to the mk2 ???...But, I think I'll be able to get fuel hose on the tap without kinking it We may have solved another issue but the final check will be with the final assembly
...Ebay here I come...after I get Daz's tap down the post office and back to him of course _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Rob, just hang on to it and try to see how it all goes, I'm in no hurry for it back yet, no drama for a week or 2. If the pipe would be better leaving the petcock at another angle, the petcock can be split and re-assembled in another orientation, but you will be limited to 90 degree steps due to the square shape, but it may help.
Glad it looks promising tho, and glad I got up that day now!
Cheers,

...The vac hose won't be a problem
If I need an extra couple of mm I could gain them by elongating the mounting holes (loads of meat there) and either spinning the whole tap or sliding the whole thing in a couple of mm
Don't panic, I won't do it to your tap...
what model exactly am I looking for Daz? _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)

Any of the carb'd GSXR SRAD's, so 600cc bikes from 1997 to 2000, or 750cc bikes from 1996 to 1997. The fuel injected bikes have a totally different pump due to the required pressure for the fuel injection. _________________ It's mine and I'll wash it as fast as I like! |

Thanks...
Looking at the casting...it wouldn't be that difficult to change the outlet direction...3 options available. Or even a duel outlet _________________ SB6 mk1 (project mega light, big bore)
