It makes some sense bud, but I think staying with 180's for a quicker turn in and stable mid corner speed is worth the extra weight. Better to wait for some good light wheels the correct size to turn up. We could meet up to have a look at your current settings in the mean time. I oftne head up to Oilys and he's not far from you?

Ye could be useful.
Its some where close but it can still be a bit of a calsaterian italian bitch and trie to kill me now and then, (Or am I just a big girl)
Tends to wobble and wollow a bit in bumpy sweepers, which scares the poop out of me. Turn in is good. I was supprised by dropping the bars 15mm or so how much quicker it turns in. I presume cos its now got a little more of my weight on them.

15mm is a lot. Ir not only allows more weight further forward but more importantly it changes to a steeper rake for the forks which in turn shortens the wheelbase. All 3 will help turn in does compromise stability ...

Dropping the bars doesn't change the geometry it's dropping the forks through the yokes that will do that

I dropped the bars

Ahh I assumed Si meant he had dropped thru the yokes. Dropping the bars should do nothing. It can make the ride position more suitable for the rider but if you are riding without the weight thru your wrists and with a relaxed grip and flex in your elbows as you should be then it makes no difference to weight transfer either...

of all the bikes I have owned the sb6 is the one that needs most attention and the best rewards for correct set up.

I find it a bit more comfortable and you're closer to the tank which puts you a bit more under the windscreen.

Dont forget that by changing the riders position you will change the weight distrabution and there for the handling.
I know its sound like twadle, but it has made a differance, plus my writs are a little more comftable

And yes Oily Id love your dymags, but I dont think I could afford one of those at the moment. Confused

The difference in weight distribution is negligible you don't sit any forward youre just lower down.

Correct. Distribution front and back is nil. At best you lower the center of gravity slightly when it doesnt matter on the straights. Moving body position thru the corners to lower center of gravity would / should happen no matter where the bars are.

Mid-turn chatter under neutral throttle is caused by improper front/rear bias. Adjust ride height.

Which way, back end lower of higher? Havent checked what the rake angle is set to either.
I would not have described it as chatter though ? ?

Hello Sibag,

silly question I know, but have you tried adjusting the steering damper? (Presuming you've taken half the bodywork off to reach it Shocked )

Cheers, MikeJ

...Dangerous things steering dampers.....
Usually there to mask handling faults Wink
I'm not sure if any of my bikes still has a steering damper but I do have a big box full of them if any one needs one Wink
